I wondered if the guitar you mentioned in your post about getting a CAR would be this one! I remember seeing this when it was for sale in 2019 and again more recently by this seller. Even messages him to see the cavities but never heard back. That sticker mark is very recognisable :D

Looks to be all good though and seems like a very fair deal on it.

Yeah, I had a weird familiarity thing too when I saw it. There's not a huge amount of them over here really so no surprise. Still, it's in the OSG fold now.

And, no, I won't be routing it out for WRHBs in case anyone was wondering 🤣

I feel sorry for the seller. Lost £1800 on a guitar in a vintage market where prices are soaring. I guess it pays to not get ripped off in the first instance. £5k in 2019 was a bit outrageous in that condition.
I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

For sure. I thought he was asking 5k originally because of the rising market. When I found out it was what he paid two years ago I felt a little sorry, then not so sorry as it's not hard to research these things before you hand over the money. 10mins of googling would have told him he was being ripped in the first place.

There's a golden rule on Ebay; no one ever spends more than £2,000. If you want more than that, you have to sell in shops or reverb.

Which of course leads to there being real bargains to be had on Ebay if you look.

With the price of LPs currently I fear he may be in for a rough ride there, too.

It may have been a “show guitar” given the scrawl in the neck pocket, was there anything written in the term cavity? (One of my 66 jags had similar scale in the neck pocket and the term cavity)
True jags from 67 are rare beasts
relaxing alternative to doing actual work ...

There's nothing in the trem cavity but you can faintly see the remains of the 'SPECIAL' stamp on the back off the neck heel...

One of mine had: Sw scrawled in the pocket and the cavity in a similar way you have in the pocket which apparently was short hand in the factory for show

To me these look like a "SPECIAL 3" in faint ink and an embossed 'C' on the heel and, in the pocket, a 7, a crossed S and a W (or E?)

I'd hazard a guess that the C is the neck profile, 7 is the year, and your suggestion of SW being show makes sense with what a quick google just taught me about the SPECIAL stamp.

As for it being a 'true' '67... I guess that depends if you go by neck/serial - which say '66 - or latest part - which is the pickups at January 67

I'll probably put a choice sticker or two on it in memory of the one that was taken off 💀 (and I like to sticker my guitars) and I've already put some witch hats on...that's likely all I'll do bar the bridge swap because, well, fuck original offset bridges.

I know it's not recommended, but if cost/value was no consideration, I'd have a hard time not sending that out to be refinished.

Honestly? I'd love to get an aged refinish. But I'm not sure I should.
