So right now I am doing this to a Gibson from 1967-69. It was a Melody Maker 1 that had been modded to a 2 humbucker thing with a lot of other changes. Now getting it professionally routed to P13 pickups and whatever else is needed to make it playable.

Look for a routed body, many are out there, and make it rock. I have a late 70s Musicmaster that I have to work on, someone "routed" it with a screwdriver while drinking paint thinner (my guess at least). Need to clean that out. :(

Happy hunting, but trashing a virgin body means one less out there that is virgin, and if you find a virgin body, you probably can do a trade with someone else who has a damaged one. (assuming a complete guitar and just looking to swap the body).
