Are these Witchhats vintage?
Noticed they look rather different from the repros I used to have, and currently have on my TVL (bigger hole in the '4', actually white, numbers generally less precise). If so, what's the going rate for a pair?

I have a bag full of NOS vintage JM witch's hat knobs and the variation shown above is quite common
relaxing alternative to doing actual work ...

Yeah, they look like mine. Consistently inconsistent.
Current values I have no idea, I think I only paid $30 to buy a pair off Jay but that was probably nearly a decade ago now

Oh, sweet! I think I'll hold on to them tbh.
Any way of dating them? When was the original run between- mid 60's and mid 70's?

Sold them today, £40 full disclosure- seemed fair enough. To a member on here via another board.

Re: Are these Witchhats vintage?
If I remember correctly it was Doug (Fullerplast) who happened upon a large bag full of these years ago, when visiting a store somewhere out of town (in Florida, I presume).
He very generously sold them to any forumites that wanted them for £20 a pair (or dollars, I forget). He must have had loads of them as they seemed to be available for quite some time. I bought 2 sets which I eventually sold on.
Incredibly, around this time someone on eBay paid something like £100 for a pair. I think people got a bit giddy thinking they'd be able to make a killer profit with theirs but in the end they seemed to stick around the £30-40 mark.

You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

Ahh, yes, it might have been Doug I got them from...I know it was from a large stash that was found. I think I bought 3 sets, not wanting to be greedy and hoarding. I could have easily used double that by now. The repro's are about £40 a pop now anywayPorkyPrimeCut wrote: ↑Tue Jun 08, 2021 11:13 pmIf I remember correctly it was Doug (Fullerplast) who happened upon a large bag full of these years ago, when visiting a store somewhere out of town (in Florida, I presume).

Yeah, I only did them cheap off the basis of seeing that OSG lot go on Reverb for the same price.johnnysomersett wrote: ↑Wed Jun 09, 2021 12:56 amAhh, yes, it might have been Doug I got them from...I know it was from a large stash that was found. Plus... to be honest... the repros feel better quality than the vintage ones.

Re: Are these Witchhats vintage?
Man, yes... about 10 years ago now before the 65 reissues came out I had a bunch of these and made a fortune selling them.
I was buying tonnes of them from that cool surplus electronics store in LA who were selling them for a few dollars each, not knowing what they were. Shameless capitalist arsehole brag
I was listing them on ebay and they were often selling for £80-100 a pair. Sold about 20 sets before the 65 reissues killed the market and I quit the knob or nob (?) game
