Right? Guess the previous owner really didn’t want it falling off.

Cool find!
Mind hipping me to this Riggio fellow? I currently have a neck in queue at MJT but I'm also shopping around for alternatives...

Joe Riggio of Riggio Guitars. Check em out on IG. Supposed to have very accurate colors and has some very nice looking builds of his own as well.

Ha ha ha, that almost belongs in the 'why did you do this thing to me thread'! Good luck with the restoration.

Excellent! Early '65s are some of my favorite Jazzmasters, love the neck shape.
That neck looks perfect! Exactly worn in all the right places, glad that's not refinished.
Looks like it's had plenty of sins that need correcting, but this is the right way to buy them - decal already gone so you can do whatever custom color you want and still have the matching headstock option. Congrats!
+1 on Riggio, I actually prefer the way he refinishes guitars over Danocaster. Dan is absolutely talented but all of his refin work looks the same, exactly the same aging etc. Riggio is well familiar with how an original finish should look and can do a few different levels of aging (or none at all) if that's your jam.

So there was a bunch of extra wood glued inside the routes even though the Humbucker setup was pickguard mounted. Maybe it housed something different before that. No ideas there. I removed that today. Still coarse and I have some smoothing and some glue to removed, but I’m going to acetone the body soon and hopefully move through that all in one go. The neck feels a bit sticky like maybe they waxed it or something. I’ll let Riggio determine if that can be tamed without stripping what is under it. Hopefully an easy solution and just a headstock refin.

Welp FedEx and UPS wanted $100 to ship a 10lb 26” box. Shifting the plan around. Also - I just realized I didn’t put this in the vintage restoration section. Sorry about that.

Something doesn't seem right, I shipped a Jazzmaster + case via UPS Ground for less than that. If you're doing neck off it should be much cheaper than 100. I also insured my guitar for like 1,800 or so. try UPS Ground. That neck looks so smooth and fast! What color are you going for the refin? Or is it a secret ?
I always use MJT, I've heard of Riggio but forgot about him... Time to go down the IG rabbit hole!
Eric Harris: I’m sorry I have so much rage, but you put it on me.

Yeah I tried UPS ground and FedEx. 26” box 10lbs. Don’t know what the deal is. With a UPS discount code I recently got it down to $70. I ended up sending the neck off for a refret first because it was a shorter quote time than the refin.
