Nice deal on a 1960 but the finish was murdered...prime candidate for a refin IMO. Fair price I'd say

I wouldn't refinish that ^^ and a lot of that guitar's appeal is in the current finish.
It has character - and that's hard to come by in a refin.

That 1960 sold quickly. I hope it found a loving new home!

Someone took sandpaper to it - that's about as far from character as I can think of! I love some natural wear but eh. I'm on the fence on this one...

Re: Cheapest way into a vintage offset?
I didn't say it was original/natural wear. Just that it had character, IMHO.
But I'd rather have weird artificial wear on an original finish guitar (and I think it looks cool) than a refin, any day.

This listing started the year at $5400 and is now here...let's keep in mind the 1960 above that just sold for thousands less

Buy an old AVRI and wait 40 years.

Supposedly a "1963" Jaguar spotted in a vintage shop in Sthlm today. Refin, routed, has another repair next to lower control plate, "hardtailed," modern pickups, respray on the back of the neck. Very light. About 30 000 sek or 3200 USD.

Is that at Twang guitars? Because if so, then I'm pretty sure I saw that very same guitar hanging on their wall in 2016.alvinstraight wrote: ↑Tue Dec 21, 2021 8:00 amSupposedly a "1963" Jaguar spotted in a vintage shop in Sthlm today. Re: Cheapest way into a vintage offset?
This was at Halkans! But Sthlm/Sweden is a relativist small place as far as vintage guitars go, so I imagine a lot of these guitars circulate through the 4-5 vintage dealers fairly frequently.higgsblossom wrote: ↑Wed Jan 05, 2022 6:13 amIs that at Twang guitars? Total side note: I do remember visiting Midwest Buy&Sell (a classic Chicago vintage shop) a few years ago, and when they found out I was from Sweden they went on about how Halkans would come there once a year to stock up on new stuff.
