I'm slowly coming round to the idea of thinning the herd of equipment in my house, but this is SO tempting.
To be fair, I only ever play through an Iridium at home and a Twin out of the house so I don't need another amp. There's 5 in my attic that don't see any use as it is :(
I've got about 5 or 6 up in the attic too. A couple come down when it's time to do a recording session but otherwise they just stay up there. Just the VibroChamp for home and the Bassman for the band. I'm actually pretty happy with that - despite lusting after many little amps.
Silly Rabbit, don't you know scooped mids are for kids?

Whoever is responsible for this thing of Japanese offsets now going over a grand used has a lot to answer for. .
I got a 2003 CIJ JM when I was a teenager, and that guitar was nothing but problems for ten years. The fit and finish were outstanding, but all of the electronics required replacement and as a young player I didn't know any better.

Not sure if this has been said, but guitar cases prices have skyrocketed. A few years back one could be had on sale for about $69.00. It's all $150.00 and up now. $69.00 is the cost of a bag now!
I own many guitars, and don't mind paying for them. But cases ....? An I'm a case man.

(To illustrate, I just got a vintage SG, and bought a new Gibson "chainsaw" TSA case for it. New: $250.00. Vintage chainsaw cases are going for up to $500.00. Felt like I was getting a bargain. Lol.)

I had forgotten that I'd changed the name of my Reverb store as a joke in a different thread. I sent someone a message about a guitar, and to my horror discovered that it was automatically signed by Dick & Dick's Guitar Fuck You.

I hastily changed the store name before they read it.

Did I suggest this? Feels like it was a riff on M$MGB?

Yes, I'd have to refer to the original post to confirm, but I'm almost certain that "Dick & Dick's Guitar Fuck You" was your idea -- I just ran with it.

future vintage

Post by partezvous » Fri Oct 20, 2023 2:39 pm

I was just thinking about how when i first started coming around, you could get an avri offset for $1200 i think.....2008ish. True vintage offsets were $2500 - $3000 range -ish (i think? I was in high school and there's no way i could come up with the money for something like that so my browsing was limited). It got me thinking about the future, and pondering what guitars, effects, recording gear, etc are going to be coveted in the next 10 - 15 - 20 years that aren't already insanely expensive. I think an obvious one would be the MIJ/CIJ offsets because they're already getting to be pretty old, but they're also already getting pretty expensive., but i'm pretty certain they'll continue to climb. There's plenty of guitar effects now....I think a lot of those will get more coveted over time. I just saw RV7 digitech reverbs are in the couple hundred dollar range on reverb and i bought one for $60 used in 2012 maybe, i never would have predicted that. I'm just curious what you all might contribute. I began thinking about it and thought it was kind of fun to think about, and would love to hear what you all think.
