Yes, it is obviously bullshit.
Not only that, but the red SPECIAL stamp underneath the finish also supports the fact that this neck was indeed specially made to be a 25 1/2" scale Mustang neck.
Especially this part. A very common marking, you'd think an 'expert' vintage dealer would be aware of this.

Agreed. Also, you'd think the original owner would be bragging something as special as their one-of-a-kind "factory original long scale" Mustang, but apparently they decided to stay quiet about this blow-up doll of a guitar because the he says "I didn't even know about until I got it home."

Having re-read the blog post I think the original owner likely knew full well he had a dud:
I spent nearly two years chatting with the long time owner of a guitar collection he was considering selling. He owned a music store in the 1970s and was known to be the guy who would trade new guitars for vintage guitars from Fender and Gibson. He amassed a collection which included a 1954 Goldtop Gibson Les Paul, 1968 Fender Telecaster Custom, 1964 Fender Jazzmaster, and some other great guitars.
A good chance to offload it while distracting with the shiny shiny Goldtop cash-cow and 'current flavour of the week' pre-CBS Jazzmaster. "A good day to bury bad news", and all that jazz (pun intended).

Not all dealers are sleazebags...there are some members here that deal and they are valued members and good people. We don't know this guy so should reserve some judgement at least. A little misinformed, and inadvertently disingenuous maybe - and certainly fluid with half-truths on his website - but you can't call someone a sleazebag without good reason.
We have certainly had an influx of dealers since the recent offset boom, and I'm not a fan of their tendency to use us less as a community but more of a free resource library to maximise profits, but it's a public forum and they can join just like anyone else.
I've had a couple try and buy vintage guitars from me when I've put them up for sale but I've just said no and sold to established members instead.

I suppose you're right, not all are bad. I guess the insanely inflated vintage offset market has left a bad taste in my mouth and his blog post just comes off as very disingenuous

Seems pretty likely, yeah.
Fuckups and oddities can definitely have collector value, but the fact that it’s so obviously flawed as an instrument in a fundamental way shoots down the idea that it’s some kind of rare prototype or whatever.

I don't know, even if it is, it's a 70's one and they're not particularly valuable compared to the 50s/60s ones (yet)
The prices on early 70s strats that still have the 4 bolt neck like this one are pretty high now. People on reverb asking £7500 for refins and over £10000 for original finish
Value drops off a lot once they switch to the 3 bolt neck which seems to be in 1972 from a brief look on reverb (I'm no strat expert).
