There aren't too many trems with a lock button and no logo! I wonder how many they made, the Greco Jags and JMs lasted only a few months of production.
I think I mentioned it to Pat but my Greco collector's book lists it as a JG700W model, meaning they retailed for 70000 yen at the time, the entry level Strats in the lineup were half that. There was also a metallic blue Jag but it doesn't list the red or sunburst ones that I've also seen.

That's from AllParts. They're unfortunately out of stock at the moment or I'd be ordering more. It's MIK, so I'm pretty sure it's the same trem that's on the MIM Fenders just without the logo stamped.

Congrats for the purchase , been really tempted by this one but shorter scale guitars lately are my least favourite

The tort pickguard as others have stated is indeed beautiful!

How wide is the nut on this one?

From the picture the vibrato tailpiece seems to have the correct string spacing which is really interesting as opposed to later mij models.
Edit: from a secong look it might not, can you confirm?

Sure, you can. Neck is being described as a "Soft V" but to me it is more a "C" with less broad shoulder.
But I get why it is referd to as "Soft V". Compared to Vintage Jag, Ri or Japanese, the Greco shoulders are definitely smaller.
A Fender "C" has some more "meat" at the sides, where the Greco has not. This is more noticeble at the heel. I read somewhere that this was done as these guitars were intended for the Japanese market, due to the smaller hands of the Japanese . Not sure if this is based on any truth or just a rumor...

I have played "V necks" in the past (On 50's RI strat's) , which had a noticeble line in the center of the back of the neck. The Greco does not have this, so there is no real "V" but the shape is perhaps a bit simelar, but there is no "V" line at all. (Hope this makes sense...)

And it makes perfect sense. I’ve a Japanese 57RI (or maybe it’s a 54RI) strat with what they called a vintage v-neck. Looks like that one in reverse - chunky soft v behind the nut rounding off to relatively thin c further up. Like you said, the shoulders appear fuller/rounder than on your Greco. If it wasn’t for the v-line near the nut on the 57RI, I’d be more inclined to call the whole thing a c because of the shoulders.

The Greco looks seriously fantastic for a 40-odd year-old guitar. Lovely colour on it too. I’m away to have a listen of that YouTube clip you mentioned. I’ve been curious about these for a while but I’ve never actually heard one.

Nut is 42 mm, same as my Fender Jazzmaster.

String spacing of the trem is 10.5 so less wide then the US original.
It's the same as the MIJ/CIJ/Aftermarket trems on the Greco.

I'm not sure. I can measure with my calipers in a bit.

Looks like it in the photo, the strings cross the bridge in parallel rather than fanning out.

So, the trem is 55mm but works just fine with my 52mm bridges.

Oh cool! Well my Jag currently has a 55mm bridge so I might see if there's some way to adapt the plate from that into the Fender J vibrato.

Here's my Offset family. Mind that 66% of these are DIY projects and pieced together over last 1,5 decade.
Only the Jag's are production guitars.

I think it can be done. I did something oposite. Adapted a Fender AVRI trem plate to fit a 10.5 string plate.
The screw holes align perfectly, I only needed to enlarge the trem arm hole as on the MIJ/CIJ/aftermarket trems with 10.5 string spacing the trem arm sits a bit more to the center then the Vintage/AVRI. I think this trem is made up from parts from at least 3 trems.
I bought the AVRI plate from a formite here who converted his trem for a Marauder project.
It's an older AVRI trem plate that is different from the current batch. The plating/chrome is thicker and the Fender logo is stamped deeper.
Found it a good match for my Partsmaster/Frankenmaster as this has aftermarket 10.5 Mustang saddles. I like these as they have somewhat deeper grooves and I don't mind the smaller string spacing as the E strings don't run too close to the fretboard edge.
