I thought the days of bargains in the vintage jazzmaster world were over but glad to see I was wrong!
Looks awesome but what on earth was someone hulking out on that truss rod for to mangle the nut like that

These are both amazing.
I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

Re: Hello nineteen seventy-two...
That's lovely Johnny. I'm not a sunburst fan either, but that little bit of wear gives it enough character to stop it being too sterile.
Great that you've found this after finding the AVII you tried disappointing. Just out of interest how is the shoulder of the binding on this Jazzmaster in comparison to the AVII?
You could probably tap out that hole if you know what size thread the grubscrew is. Probably some weird, archaic imperial thread no doubt. Or just bang in a metric size tap of roughly the same size and a new grub screw - helpful tip is that the Allen key size of a metric grubscrew is half of the thread size i.e 6mm grub screw is 3mm Allen key, 10mm grub 5mm Allen key etc etc. (No idea why this is relevant but just remembered it)

Re: Hello nineteen seventy-two...
Indeed, the little bit of wear is its redeeming quality regards finish. The shoulder is perfect compared to the AVII66...nice and smooth and no weird bump - just like my Coronado II. It's just on the edge of being too chunky for my size hands but it fills it nicely. I've had a chance to actually play it properly now too. It's extremely vibrant and resonant and the weight is a delight for the shoulders. Pickups aren't at all thin either.GreenKnee wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 1:02 pmThat's lovely Johnny. I knew that about grub screws funnily enough but had also forgotten until you mentioned it! I'm going to try a few things before getting fruity with a tap and die.
Silly Rabbit, don't you know scooped mids are for kids?

Amazing, I've always loved any '72s I've played- my old MM, a possibly the most incredible hardtail Strat I've ever had. Good year it seems

Re: Hello nineteen seventy-two...
Yeah, I have a saved search for 70s JMs are they are a pretty rare occurrence.
I'm guessing they were still using Nitro as a clearcoat on the sunbursts of this era as mine is checked considerably. My 73 Mustang had a nitro sunburst too.
