This is quite possibly in my top 5 coolest guitars on OSG. Period. I love everything about it from the sticker on the headstock down to the mismatched knobs. Don't change them!

Probably some epic old guitars/threads... Zhivago's Black JM, Pacafeliz' Crackwhore Jag, The Older Brother's Rickenbacker build, theworkoffire's Sherwood BuickMaster. Jonesie is in good company.

The tort is insane. I love it. What a find.
Edit: I know I already commented earlier in the thread, I just had to comment on that tort.

My tech told me to never take it off ever again unless I desperately have to, because it was an ordeal to get it back on, with how much it shrunk.BoringPostcards wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 2:43 pmThe tort is insane. I love it. What a find.

Beautiful stuff, Jonesie! Quite a score, I believe this could be a late 64 / early 65 body? It just doesn't look like a late 60's jazz. It's a great work, nicely put together. Partsmasters can be so classy and perfect.
I believe the neck could be a Shecter or even a Fernandes japanese neck from the 80's. The schallers would make sense. Amazing stuff either way, those necks are unbelievably good

I realize this thread is a bit old but I came over from the "what is it really worth" discussion. I gotta say you made the right choice grabbing this jazzy. Regardless of the neck, which I find quite charming, there's enough vintage mojo going on here that if you ever decided to try and nab a vintage neck to go with this one, you'd end up with one fine piece. Even as is, I'm sure this one is giving you some great playing time and as a lot of people around here know, if it's good for what you want it for, then it's a win regardless.
Nice find!

Absolutely. It's a great guitar as-is, but I do have a search out for vintage necks (Coronado necks specifically for the blocks and binding) just in case anything comes up at a half-way reasonable price. No urgent need for that though.clintburgess wrote: ↑Mon Oct 23, 2023 9:31 amI realize this thread is a bit old but I came over from the "what is it really worth" discussion. This is a good game plan. I do see necks like what you've got your eye on from time to time. Nothing out there currently but will definitely pass along any info if something pops up that fits the bill.Jonesie wrote: ↑Mon Oct 23, 2023 10:23 amAbsolutely. I’ll bet that neck came out of the same factory as the Tokai early 80s necks, the truss yr style and placement and the veneer fretboard look the same. I have one on my Mory JM and it’s a wonderful neck.

Oooh, I appreciate you noticing that! It's definitely a super comfy neck (even if it does have a regular Strat headstock...)

I am glad the thread got bumped up, too. It is a lovely guitar, and even Jesus approves!
