No affiliation, but I stumbled upon this. I love CFM, who doesn't? You don't see this color this often, and it has really morphed into a unique color. There was a dude who had an Inca Silver, Charcoal Frost, and Black custom color jaguar relatively recently on here - and his kinda looked like this. I won't speak on the authenticity, just nerd out on the color.... And price.

Nice looking guitar.
But there should be a public inquiry into why Fender is not using this sort of tort on guitars instead the shocking stuff they foist on people these days.

I think I would take the Master builder Jag with fossil wood and mammoth block inlays for that price. It’s nice but that price is insane.

The price is insane compared to what? Not exactly seeing a plethora of other CFM Jaguars at lower prices.
I do find it odd that there is a tort guard on this guitar. I know custom colors with tort guards have appeared surfaced before but it’s unusual.

More than likely. Could you request tort back when requesting custom colours in the 60s?
Silly Rabbit, don't you know scooped mids are for kids?

That was my immediate thought as well. I don't think that was a thing at Fender in 1966. Would like to see provenance, otherwise it has to be assumed to be a replacement.
It's also bold of them to ask $20k for an "all-original" guitar without any gut shots. You'd have to be insane to pay that without seeing the neck pocket, body routs, pots, and pickups.
That's all that stands between a $20k all-original CFM guitar and a $3k parts/refin job.

The inlays are actually from a mastodon tusk.
Mammoth tusk inlays don’t sound good with Jags; they’re more suited to Jazzmasters. Mastodon tusks, however, are well known for providing great note separation and haunting mids, perfect for Mustangs and Jags. It’s a little known fact that Leo actually used these on a few Jags in the early 60s, during the golden era when Fender had a reliable supply of paleo megafauna skeletons. I read that on Mike & Mikes, so i know it to be true.

I usually avoid the comment section like cancer, but I can’t help myself from looking, when I expect to find a Flat Earther or young Earth creationist in the comments. Such fools.
