Who grabbed this then? (UK, Gumtree)

Post by JamesSGBrown » Thu Jul 29, 2021 9:59 pm

Jesus.

Is this a vintage custom colour with gold hardware and clay dots?

May just cry myself to sleep forever for missing this if so.

Already spotted in this thread.

Who knows what happened there. I've been thinking about it since it first popped up and, with deeper thought, I actually very much doubt it's real (and I don't think that's gold hardware, just the light affecting the colour of the chrome, could be wrong)... Doom metal guys are massive gearheads as a rule and I highly doubt it would have slipped past him to check. My opinion is that it was deliberately ambiguous so as to sell it quick. And it worked.

It just seems mighty fishy is all. Nothing adds up. I guess we'll find out if it pops up on eBay or Reverb for 10k 🤣
Silly Rabbit, don't you know scooped mids are for kids?

I can’t zoom in but that doesn’t look gold to me.
I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

I too suspect it was put up as a joke, perhaps to see if anyone tried to offer a fair price.

But it would be nice to know for sure.

The truss rod notch in the guard is fishy, don't think those were stock back in the day. Probably not legit.

Players/guitar techs in the 60s discovered this magic new tool called "the file" and it could be used to create a truss rod notch in the guard.
I have had plenty of vintage guards with non OEM truss rod guard notches.
