What the heck is this thing?
http://www.fetishguitars.com/mrt/misc/cordovox.html
At first I thought it was just an amp, but it seems to have (tube!) tone generator boards... I know they made a synthaccordion once, but that doesn't seem to be it. I'll google it some more in the mean time, but if anyone knows outright, that would be quicker.

Re: What the heck is this thing?
wow!!
65 tubes??? that's gotta be the most valvey sounding amp in the world!
i have abosolutely no idea what it is, you're probably right, some sort of primitive accordion interface device? the big heavy black cable seems to have some sort of connection for something?? maybe a farfisa organ or accordion or vocoder? or vacuum cleaner???

I have no idea, but it looks like two different things. The thing with two speakers appears to be an amp (left), the other thing (right) i dunno.

Ah yeah, good observation. I was wondering why they put tubes in the generator board, but not in the amp bit.

Re: What the heck is this thing?
Just found this: http://www.scotlandaccordions.co.uk/Sto ... erator.asp
Obviously a later model, but it makes sense that the one with all the tubes is the original version. Tone generator for the syntaccordion indeed, then. Coolness.

Re: What the heck is this thing?
Many electric organs (and accordions) work with tone generator boards. For each semitone in an octave, there's an oscillator followed by a series of frequency dividers. For, e.g., a "C" tone generator board, the oscillator provides the highest C, then the outputs of the frequency dividers are connected to all the lower Cs. When the oscillator goes flat, all Cs on the keyboard go flat. Et cetera. The tube is part of the circuit on each board.

Some accordion/organ brands actually produced interesting combination of accordions and combo organs, like these Elka Concordes:
