I think you should stay as minimal as possible. Consider Mimi Parker.

Re: my new drum kit --did i do well?
yea tru.. i want to stay minimal.. what's her kit consist of lately?
snare/kick/ride? seen mimi has no rack toms or no kick sometimes -- correct?
ps.. i might have overpaid.. but i bought spontaneously, w/o doing much
research. lol. but i hope it works out.. i suspect it's vintage circa 1968-75
range, anyone know anything bout this?

Re: my new drum kit --did i do well?
so do you approve Johan? it's my first drum kit ever..
i had no idea what i was looking for.. but def not some
neil pert or 80's HUGE dbl bass kit. -- kind of feeling some regret
cause i blew half my paypal 'wad' on this one. but maybe once it
arrives i'll love it -- if not. it shouldn't be so tough to unload i guess.
maybe take a hit.. whatever prob dump the rack tom too. cause f*ck that

i don't know anything about vintage drums (even though i used to be a drummer), but my initital reaction was: WTF?!? only $380 for an old ludwig set?!?
just a few weeks ago i saw what to me looked like a similar set (although with all the rims present) for roughly $2000 in a shop... what's the catch?

+1
I've been looking at old kits for a little while though as I'd like to eventually learn to play and record my own parts.. I have no clue or care what the drum market would say about that one but if I had the money I would've jumped all the fuck over it. It's gorgeous, they don't make old ones anymore, and as long as it's solid and sounds good.. I'm sure it's a hell of a deal. congrats!
