Recommend me a live dynamic vocal mic, please (NMD P2).

All instruments that aren't guitars (or bass guitars).

If the person in charge of sound knows their rig and has tuned it well then a 58 can sound absolutely perfect for a lot of situations. They're the Swiss army knife of mics for a reason - but they don't suit every voice, I'll admit that. You gotta be a bit of a loud singer
Yes, this is true. The 58 has a low mid EQ thing that helps it to not feedback too easily at loud volumes. I mostly mean in the crappy rehearsal studio with the PA you get on CL and the little club with the dirty Mackie or Soundcraft mixer at FOH.

I’m so used to sub-par live monitor sound that I had the mindset that shitty sound at practice was a form of preparation, and I tended to chalk frustrations up to my shortcomings as a singer. This was a real obstacle to exploring other mic options.

It wasn’t until I tried another mic under the exact same practice conditions that worked better for me that the lightbulb went off.

I sing quite softly, in a small rehearsal room, with a heavy drummer, two guitars and a bass player, and I use in-ears. I tried a Beta58 (not enough rejection), an OM5 (not loud enough for my voice), wasn't satisfied with either, before I finally bought a Heil PR37, that is by far my favorite. I like my voice in it, and it does not take too much of the surrounding instruments. But it is quite expensive

Audix OM5 typically need quite a bit more preamp gain…but once the gain is set there is no difference in volume between it and an SM58.

I’ve used the OM7 for years and they need even more gain but you can get them even louder before feedback than an OM5…you have to be right on these mics though otherwise they will seem quiet and any feedback rejection gains will be quickly lost when an uneducated engineer mistakenly tries to compensate to get it louder!
