I recently stumbled upon www.airwindows.com . Great sounding, hassle free (and GUI free!) plugins. There's bunch of them, in all formats. Def worth checking them out.

Not an effect, but OP mentioned TAL, who also make the excellent Noisemaker.

I love it. I've used it extensively for teaching sound design to classes of 12-year olds, before realising that 12-year olds reeeally don't care about sound design.

For a while I got sucked into watching lots of 'Produce Like A Pro' videos on YouTube - presented by an English guy called Warren, I think. There would often be links to free VST plug-ins in the video descriptions, so maybe worth delving into.
