Finally got my Cloudlifter CL-1 today.
Set it up with my RCA Varacoustic ribbon that had never done that much for me and… HOLY CRAP. It completely came to life. Ended up playing around doing a single mic recording for like 3 hours.
Very excited to try it with my RE20 and my cheaper dynamics.

Man, the Cloudlifter changed my life! All joking aside. So crisp and quality for a fair price. I'm no Brad but it's worked wonders for me.

Tried it with my RE20 for an online open mic I do. I really like this combo too. The level boost is pretty subtle, but the mic seems much more condenser-like to me with the Cloudlifter in line.
Condensers on vocals kind of drive me nuts as the detail comes at the cost of picking up a lot of unflattering stuff, at least with my voice.
Looking forward to working with this combo more.

I have the same issue and found that using a combination of a U87 clone (a Behringer B2 Pro of all things!) alongside a good dynamic (SM7B) means i can blend to taste and mitigate those problems.marqueemoon wrote: ↑Mon Jan 16, 2023 12:57 pm

Silly Rabbit, don't you know scooped mids are for kids?

Interesting. I might give this a shot when it’s time to do vocals.johnnysomersett wrote: ↑Mon Jan 16, 2023 10:34 pmI have the same issue and found that using a combination of a U87 clone (a Behringer B2 Pro of all things!) alongside a good dynamic (SM7B) means i can blend to taste and mitigate those problems.marqueemoon wrote: ↑Mon Jan 16, 2023 12:57 pm

It's definitely worth doing. In this day and age of digital and limitless tracks it's all of an extra minute or two to throw up extra options. I've done 3 before (dynamic in the middle then a condenser one side and a ribbon the other) and it just gives you instant options. More punch? Turn up the dynamic. Sparkle and definition? Up goes the condenser...etc etc. You can limit the need for heavy EQ'ing quite well with this approach I find.marqueemoon wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 7:00 amInteresting.
