Anybody have a small format mixer they love?

I'm looking for something I can use to clip synths and drum machines and things.

I have 3 of those little mackies, and while the do do some interesting distortion stuff with some of my drum machines, they're really harsh on keys.

What I'm reallying thinking about is a line level Tube Screamer, really.

Anyone ever built a box that sends diodes to ground for a mixer? I mean, you have more gain than you could possibly need in the mixer's output. I would imagine you'd have to use different diodes that had a higher distortion threshold, right?

I have no idea what I am talking about.

Is this for live use? Just trying to understand why it needs to be a mixer.
