Mint or parchment pickguard for ocean turquoise ?

Post by jdiogon » Tue Jan 22, 2019 9:10 am

Hi everyone,

I'm coming with the most important question ever, and I didn't found a topic discussing exactly this point :)

I have a Ocean Turquoise Jazzmaster (the new ones, American Original 60s).
This is my first offset :)

I'm not a fan of the tortoise pickguards.

The question is : would you go mint or parchment ?
Or any other suggestion of course.

Thanks a lot !

Parchment. I have it on my bass and it's like a toned down white. More subtle than mint to me, but ymmv

Tough one but I think I'd second the parchment. It'll match your pickup covers nicely.

Mike and Mike have some recommendations on an Ebay seller making vintage looking guards that have piqued my interest lately...

Parchment is absolutely the way to go here. The greenness of mint seems to throw off the appearance of a body's color in my opinion.

Here's my OTM Strat with a parchment guard if it helps you out:

Good choice. I'm actually a huge fan of mint on blue-green offsets, but in recently months I've been coming around to preferring parchment and white much of the time. I think parchment for OTM is a perfect choice.

Noooo! Do Mint!
It looks so good with the tones of the OTM.

I can always change later if I find it "too white" :)

Parchment or cream brings out the best of OT.

Love the white on OT. And if you don't like it, just play in some jazz clubs for awhile, the cigar smoke will turn it mint for you ;D

Mint guards make the guitar look less like a toy and more vintage. But the parchment does look nice on yours

I like the Mint to go with the vintage 60's look. Unless your modding it for your style or look. ;D
