Unless something super cool pops up near me, the only concert I've got planned this year is seeing the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra playing the live movie score during a screening of The Empire Strikes Back ;D 8)
I would love to see something like that near me. So many good songs on that sound track, my favorite is the meteor shower.

Edit: totally meant asteroid field, don't know what I was thinking. Sorry, John Williams

Seriously! The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra is doing one each year. Last July it was the original Star Wars (AKA A New Hope), and I'm hoping that next summer will be Return Of The Jedi. It was a lot of fun last year. Like you said, Empire has some REALLY good tracks to it. The song that plays during the carbon freeze scene always gets me.

How was Dead Can Dance?
Consider doing a round trip for it, but the ticket price alone wrenches my gut a bit.
Seeing Carla Del Forno, Demdike Stare and Tomaga this friday..Swoon!

They were pretty awesome with a nice roundup of their songs over the years!

My work schedule finally yielded enough to see a show for the first time in months this past Friday, and we had a really lovely evening seeing Weyes Blood.

Not as much a fan of her more recent output as I am her first two records (The Innocents is one of my favorite albums of the last decade :-* ), but it was a great show; the band's playing was was squeaky clean and all seemed to be having a genuinely good time, and Natalie's voice soared even more than it comes across recorded. Highlights were a fun cover of God Only Knows and a really intimate solo rendition of 'Bad Magic' as the closer.

^ Never heard of her before, found a few of her songs on youtube, think I'm hooked now. Thank you!

My concert list now includes Raphael Anton Irisarri and loscil at the IMA, both artists I have been listening to heavily for several years and randomly discovered they're playing here on the same bill next week. Stephen O'Malley is also on the ticket.
