It somehow passed me by that Otoboke Beaver were doing a London show next month, so I picked up a ticket for that earlier, and also one for Man or Astro-Man? in October. I've had kind of a gig drought that I'm trying to end at the moment.

Woot woot! Pretty hyped for the already mentioned Surfer Joe Festival.
But today I bought tickets for another crazy trip: flying to Athens early July to see THE BUDOS BAND, BLACK PUMAS and THIEVERY COOPERATION on the same evening.
And it‘s probably cheaper for a whole week than taking the train (or car) to Switzerland and spend two nights there.

I'm seeing The Hellacopters tonight. Should be fun, they're always really good live.

Since Beryl has just dumped 5+ inches of rain on the river I was planning on kayaking tomorrow and Thursday, I guess we'll go see X tonight.

X was way better than I expected.
I'd forgotten about it until reminded a bit ago, but Built To Spill on Saturday.

Got tickets for A Place To Bury Strangers in September, and The Darts in October. Both under £20, which is my comfort zone when it comes to gigs.
Ex Easter Island Head are playing Glasgow tomorrow night, but I'm going to have to pass on that one for various reasons.

Got to see Ghostwoman a couple of nights ago, completely out of the blue & at a venue I'd not been to just down the road from where we live. Turned out to be a fantastic little place with a great beer garden that looks to be a skatepark during the day
They were fucking great! A heavier set than I expected but still played my favourite, lighter track towards the end...

You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

I went to see them earlier in the year and they were not great. Feckin eejit guitarist made the fatal mistake of dissing the soundman before the first song and again at several points throughout the set, which you'd expect any performer to know is the dumbest thing you can do.PorkyPrimeCut wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 11:11 amGot to see Ghostwoman a couple of nights ago, completely out of the blue & at a venue I'd not been to just down the road from where we live. I kind of felt like shouting "Hey, we've fucking paid for this, you tool!" since he just came across as a total prick from beginning to end.

Re: the "whats on your concert list" thread
Seeing the Breeders in Chicago in a few weeks (early B-day present from the wife). I've been wanting to see them since the 90s, but it never happened. They are playing through all of Pod and Last Splash. Then a few nights later (and closer to home) I'm seeing Sunny Day Real Estate on their Diary 30th Anniversary tour. I'm thinking about seeing La Luz in October and Los Straitjackets will be here a few weeks later.
My wife is going to Chicago this weekend to see Pulp, one of her bands she's wanted to see since the 90s. Thrilled for her to get to see them.
