Seeing GZA performing Liquid Swords, with a live band, at a fairly small venue, in May.

Zack had bronchitis and Nick Reinhart, guitar/vocals with tour mates Disheveled Cuss, filled in admirably. Rob played bass and Chris drummed for Disheveled Cuss so it was just the three of them the whole night.

HELMET tonight at the Tivoli - been waiting for this one since it was originally scheduled/postponed (2020)!

Just got tickets to see The Hives in Cambridge, MA in November. So. Fucking. Pumped. I've been a fan for 21 years and I've never seen them.

Drain has been on my wish list for a bit now and I got to see them last nite. Was a blast.
One of the opening bands was Drug Church, who I hadn't really listened to before. They blew me away, and the lead guitarist was playing a jazzmaster, doing all sorts of cool noisy stuff

Just saw Gizz in Chicago last week and we're going to Ween and CAKE in Chicago in September.
I also have Horsegirl tickets in Chicago in August but I won't be able to go. If anyone wants one PM me.

Re: the "whats on your concert list" thread
This weekend I’m at Surfer Joe‘s Summer Festival in Livorno, Italy right now.
I call it „advanced training course in surf music“
- yesterday opened strong with DAIJAIKU who combine Surf with some Kraut and Doom/Heavy Sounds. They switched mid set from the main stage to the garden stage where the crowd carried the drummer and his set and the two guitarists stood on top of PA speaker cabinets. Wow! That was soooo intense! And also ZAKO played a great set! Very cool bassist and one of the guitarists had a beautiful white lefthand Jaguar with matching headstock. Maybe a Japanese model. And they covered one of my favorites track by my favorite surf band (Langhorns).
Today I‘m looking forward to see THE KILAUEAS, EL ZEB and JIMMY DALE (Dick Dale‘s son who will also hold a symposium tomorrow about his father‘s sound).
Tomorrow SATANS PILGRIMS, THE SURFARIS, SURFER JOE, LES AGAMEMNOZ and on Sunday MESSER CHUPS, DAVE & THE PUSSIES, LOS VOLCANICS and many more of course.
Surfy Industries are here too and I may have the opportunity to try/buy their new Surfy Fuzz.
Anyhow: it‘s my first big Surf music event and I love it very much!

Re: the "whats on your concert list" thread
i saw Between The Buried and Me the other night and they were excellent! I've never listened to them, tickets were cheap, and i figured it was a good way to spend an evening.
really enjoyed the openers too, one of which was Thank You Scientist. all very proficient musicians, though i couldn't help but compare them to Mars Volta

So, apparently my wife signed up to the waitlist for tickets to the Darker Waves Fest. I guess some spots opened up, and she will be charged for tickets. Unless it somehow conflicts with our house sale, it looks like I'll be going to Huntington Beach to see New Order, Tears for Fears, Devo, and the B-52s for my birthday weekend. Should be fun!

Jealous, such a great lineup! On the upside my sister-in-law had a couple extra U2 tickets at the Sphere in October that we snagged, so that should be interesting.ThePearDream wrote: ↑Tue Aug 15, 2023 6:50 amSo, apparently my wife signed up to the waitlist for tickets to the Darker Waves Fest. On my list:
Wilco last night at the Forum in London - one of the best times I’ve seen them, just fantastic
Caroline in October, apparently it will be a set of new stuff. I really loved their debut album last year.
Brian Eno - October
Pale Blue Eyes - November
Bill Orcutt - November
