He did. He seemed to swap basses very frequently. I don't think he was having any technical issues on the night I saw them.Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 20, 2022 3:12 amI don't know if it was just because he was having some technical problems, but did he break out the upright bass at your show too?rank wrote: ↑Fri Aug 19, 2022 6:15 pmI saw them a few weeks back & it was an amazing show. That bass he is playing is a Moniker bass. I was staring at it all night. It was gorgeous & he was a great bass player.Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 15, 2022 9:58 amWe saw Lord Huron Saturday night. Easily one of the best concerts I've ever seen. Amazing energy, fantastic performances, and seriously the coolest lighting show I've ever seen.
Funky (custom?) bass that looked really cool.
And thanks for the info! I'll have to look up the Moniker bass.

Badass. I would absolutely go and see them again.

I would too. There have been several shows I’ve seen this year by people I wasn’t very familiar with that I really enjoyed & would go again.

I saw Sigur Ros the other night.
It was... 'fine'? I suppose I can see how it'd be amazing for a superfan but frankly a lot of it dragged on.

Oh, you didn't know Lord Huron very well before the show? Very-soon-to-be-Mrs J got me hooked on them 3 years ago, and I fell in love pretty quickly.rank wrote: ↑Sat Aug 20, 2022 10:49 amI would too. All 4 of their albums are great, but my favorite is their third, Vide Noir. It has this really cool vibe that would work as easily for Halloween/autumn background music as it would camping or hiking in northern California.
Their newest is also really cool as it's meant to feel like an old radio show/old concert, with talking between songs, like an old MC/DJ would do.

I had heard a few songs but didn't know much. I had a similar experience going to see Gregory Alan Isakov also. Didn't know much about him but was blown away by the performance!Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 21, 2022 7:14 amOh, you didn't know Lord Huron very well before the show? Oh man, I bet that was a good show. I've never seen him, but I always figured he puts on a good show. I would kind of assume that most of the modern indie folk stuff would be pretty decent live. Lumineers, Gregory Alan Isakov, Of Monsters And Men, Head And The Heart, Vance Joy, Kodaline, Mumford & Sons, etc.

My friend’s wife got Covid so he offered up their Pavement tickets for tonight.
Provided he doesn’t bail out last minute this will be my 12 year old son’s first “real” concert, so looking forward to that aspect.

After my rib-injury and getting Covid and so missing Primavera Porto (with Nick Cave, Khruangbin, Tame Impala and Gorillaz) and Einstürzende Neubauten I was very thankful to catch Nick Cave at Burg Clam (an ancient castle near where I live) - probably the summer‘s highlight…
Next thing up would be THE WYTCHES in the UK (which will be my first post-Brexit visit and my first concert of one of my absolute favorite bands!)

We did go. It ended up being a bit much for him as it was very loud and bright. It was a bit much for me too honestly. The sound was bad or at least inappropriate for the room.sal paradise wrote: ↑Mon Sep 19, 2022 2:38 amDid you make it/how was it/has your son got the bug?marqueemoon wrote: ↑Sat Sep 17, 2022 11:45 amMy friend’s wife got Covid so he offered up their Pavement tickets for tonight.

We made it 8 or 9 songs. He liked the adventure of taking the train downtown, etc…

That’s a shame, I guess maybe try taking him to one of his favourite artists when they’re in town?marqueemoon wrote: ↑Mon Sep 19, 2022 6:09 amWe did go. He really doesn’t have favorite artists.sal paradise wrote: ↑Mon Sep 19, 2022 6:21 amThat’s a shame, I guess maybe try taking him to one of his favourite artists when they’re in town?
He took drum lessons for a bit (his idea), and that’s why it didn’t take I think. So far he hasn’t heard anything that really excites him.
Hopefully we can find something else to check out soon. Outdoor shows are great, but we’re getting to the end of that season.
