I just went saw Pavement in Portland and the sound was great. It was outdoors though.

Our next thing will be the traveling cast of Hamilton next month.

Mudhoney - Unfortunately I can't go to this one (rescheduled due to Corona & I'm out of town).
Stereolab - I always regretted missing them, back when Mary Hansen was alive, but this will still be special.
Asteroid No.4 - In a cool little Leipzig venue I've not been to yet.

Next year...

The Black Angels - Part of a weekend in Prague. Can't wait.
The Brian Jonestown Massacre - A short trip up the road to Berlin for this one.
You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

Saw The Fixx a couple of weeks back and they were amazing. The wife, who is only familiar with some of the hits, was even blown away and asked when they are coming back. I think the next one up after that is James Gang/NIN/Breeders/Black Keys, which I'm super psyched for.

Saw Soccer Mommy at Kentish Town tonight. They’re really tight. Unfortunately they seemed to be soundchecking just before the set- weird for a venue of that size. Something wasn’t up, it was drums & vocals & some washed out guitars for the 1st half of the set.

Shame. I usually try and stand by the sound desk as so many London venues can have dodgy sound. Regardless, I just don’t get how sound people can get it so wrong on nights like this. I’m there, I can hear the levels are all over the place. Easy for me to be critic, of course.
I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

Saw Animals as Leaders this past weekend and it was a really, really great show. That band is so tight and synced. The drums sounded huge as did the guitars. You know they all practice with a metronome.

Just saw Slowdive in a live show yesterday night and was blown away. Together with Ride and Dinosaur Jr are the bands that capture the feeling of recordings and make it even better in the performance!
Next favourite band to see live after reunion is probably Ned's Atomic Dustbin and Pond.

Wound up seeing Fiel a la Vega on Sat & Manic Street Preacher/Suede last night. Never heard of Fiel..., but apparently they're very popular in Puerto Rico. Always heard of MSP, but never actually heard them. Only song I recognized was their cover of Madonna's Borderline. I thought I would at least recognize Suede's first MTV hit, but nothing sounded familiar. Maybe they reworked the song or he sang it differently.

Looks like I’m going to Night 2 of Luna (an all covers set). A friend has an extra ticket.

I was lukewarm about this when it was first announced, but Sean Eden is one of my favorite guitar players, and Luna has a real knack for picking good songs to cover and doing them well.

Man, I was lucky enough to be in the LA area when FYF Fest was going on back in 2017. Lots of great bands, but Slowdive was unreal. Just laying in the grass at dusk with those waves of sound washing over us is a hard concert memory to beat.

I didn't realize they were touring again. Their "farewell" tour back in 2004 was definitely one of the highlights of that year.
