764-Hero - get here and stay.
It's a gloomy sort of Tuesday over here and I have a migraine. I wanted to listen to something more mellow with some ascending moments and easy vocals. this is doing the trick for me. Cool UP records band.

I used to be cool, now I just complain about prices.

Jesus and Mary Chain - Munki
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-NXFXT3r2Q this track "Fizzy" at the moment. Pretty much captures the most spirited version of this band IMHO

Don't usually post youtube links in this thread but this is one the great performances, if not the greatest, on a classical guitar.
Kazuhito Yamashita - Pictures at an Exhibition (Mussorgsky)
It will help if you have heard the piece or at least read about its format beforehand, in order to appreciate what he has done.
As they say, do yourself a favour, get a drink and something to eat and sit down and enjoy this.
I was planning tp play my guitar after watching this , but I think I will wait a while now.

Grooms - Comb the feelings through your hair. If you like SY, Polvo, Unwound and Blonde Redhead you will probably like this.

Re: Now playing... "what are you listening to right now" thread
Right now my better half is playing some Hall & Oates Best Of she bought this afternoon. I was never a fan, or even someone who would tolerate them, back in their heyday, but compared to some of the water under the bridge since those days I've definitely heard worse. Maybe I'm becoming a reverse curmudgeon or something; I was definitely more scathing about relatively inoffensive music in my youth than I am nowadays.
She also bought the new Sufjan Stevens album and one by Midlake, so I'll probably get along better with at least one of those.

The new Sufjan Stevens album is possibly his most consistent for me. I love it. Bethel Woods is a grower, too.UlricvonCatalyst wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2023 10:04 amRight now my better half is playing some Hall & Oates Best Of she bought this afternoon. Also, early Hall & Oates is great. Abandoned Luncheonette is a killer album. The unreleased tracks from this album are awesome: Dry In The Sun (Spotify)
I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

Re: Now playing... "what are you listening to right now" thread
The "That Thing You Do!" soundtrack just got put out on vinyl and my copy delivered today, so I'm listening to that, of course. A legitimately fantastic soundtrack (and it isn't just "That Thing You Do!" 13 times in a row.)
It's one of my favorite movies, and hell, I even have a tattoo that's a reference to it. I'm a fucking nerd.

Roger Waters - Dark Side of the Moon Redux
interesting in its own way if you are familiar with the original, an old man revisiting his youth.
