How about a thread for posting and/or requesting tabs?

me too, and sometimes I write it down.

I made a tab for Sonic Youth's Incinerate a few months back:

instructions:

It can't be played with a standard set of strings as they'd break, I used 0.46 0.46 0.36 0.26 0.26 0.18 because that was what I had lying around, I think a better set would be: 0.48 0.48 0.36 0.26 0.18 0.18.

Unfortunately I put a standard set of strings on the guitar again so I can't see how accurate the tab is.

These notes might sometimes seem vague but they were written by me for me  and I can use them perfectly, sometimes I leave some room for improvisation when I'm playing, which is why not everything is written down. This was never meant to be an accurate tab. Things I put between brackets are not always played or I don't always want to play them. There are 2 guitars used in the song and I'm not always following one, this is more of a selection of parts I want to play when I hear the song and they could be by either guitarist, in this case Lee or Thurston.
I sliced it all up into little parts hoping that'll make it easier to read, so anyway:

Part 1:

G -----0--0--0------0--0--0-----------------------------|
G -----0--0--0------0--0--0-----------------------------|
D#----0--0--0------0--0--0--------0----0--------------|
A#----0--0--0------0--0--0------0----0---0-----------|
D#----0--0--0------0--0--0---0------------------------|
D -----X--X--X-----X--X--X------------------------------|

                                            ^Randomly pick notes
                                                  in open chord

Part 2:

G --12--10--12--15--15--12--|--5--7--7--8--8--7--7--|
G --12--10--12--15--15--12--|--5--7--7--8--8--7--7--|
D#-------------------------------|--------------------------| whole part x2
A#-------------------------------|--------------------------|
D#-------------------------------|--------------------------|
D  -------------------------------|--------------------------|

                    (x2)

Part 3:

G  ----------------------|
G ----5---7---8---7----|
D#--(5)-(7)-(9)-(7)---| repeated a few times
A#---5---7---9---7----|
D#----------------------|
D  ----------------------|

Strum or pick around a bit with plectrum, or both.
hitting the open strings allowed as long as you mute the D.

Part 4:

G  ------------------------------------------------------------------|
G  -----------------5--7--(7)--5---3-(3)-(3)-5-------------------|
D#---4-----4--7------------------------------------2--4--2-------|
A#-------------------------------------------------------------2---| Whole part x 3
D#------------------------------------------------------------------|
D  ------------------------------------------------------------------|
                                                ^(picked fast)
it's a shame I can't check this part again, I remember I played it
differently (same notes, different positions) as I played it more often

end 3d time:
G  ----------------
G -5--------------
D#----2----------
A#--------2------
D#----------------
D  ----------------

(instead of
D# 2--4--2---
A# -----------2)

Part 5:

G ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
G ------5----7----------------5------5--5-----------7--8-7-8-7-8-7-----------|
D#-----5----7----------------5----5----5-------5--7-----------------9-7------|
A#-----5----7----------------5--5------5--5--5----7---------------------------|
D#--------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
D ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------|

^Basic chords              ^strum, pick notes and mess around
a bit with them like this, just try yourself

(1:32, Part 2, part 3, part 4, part 5 till 2:52)

Solo at 2:28 (during part 5): (use shitloads of distortion)

G ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
G ----5--5--7-8--10--12--12^13^12--10--8^10--8^10---5---5---5--7-8-7--5^7--5^7--5--3^5--3^5--|
D#---5----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A#---5----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
D#--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
D ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|

2:41:

G ---------------------------------------------------|
G ----5------------5--------------------------------|
D#---5------------5---------7--5--4--2--0-------|
A#---5---7b9b7--5---7^9------------------0----|
D#--------------------------------------------------|
D ---------------------------------------------------|

^b as in bend and '^' (in tab) as in hammer on

You may want to play this solo differently, but I like sliding tongue.gif

2:52

then:

G --0---0-0-0---8--12--13--15--13--12-----8--12--13--15--13--12-----|
G --0---0-0-0---8--12--13--15--13--12-----8--12--13--15--13--12-----|
D#-0---0-0-0-----------------------------------------------------------(12)--|
A#-0---0-0-0--(9)(12)(14)(16)(14)(12)---(9)(12)(14)(16)(14)---------|
D#-0---0-0-0------------------------------------------------------------------|
D --x---x-x-x------------------------------------------------------------------|

at 3:05 the really cool bit start, it's actually quite easy to play:

G --0--3-5--0--3-5-5--0--3-5--0--3-5-5----0--5-7--0--5-7-7--0--5-7--0--5-7-7---|
G --0--3-5--0--3-5-5--0--3-5--0--3-5-5----0--5-7--0--5-7-7--0--5-7--0--5-7-7---|
D#------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A#------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
D#------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
D --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|

G-8-----10-----0--12-15--0--12-15--0--12-15--0--12-15-15--0--15-17--0--15-17--0--15-17--0--15-17-17-|
G-8-----10-----0--12-15--0--12-15--0--12-15--0--12-15-15--0--15-17--0--15-17--0--15-17--0--15-17-17-|
D#------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A#------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
D#------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
D -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|

^strum both a number of times

G --20----22-------| 'make' the 22nd fret by pressing really hard with fingers on strings behind 21st (for JM-players)
G --20----22-------|
D#------------------|
A#------------------|
D#------------------|
D -------------------|

^again: strum both a number of times
(I'm not going to find out how many)

3:30

Part 1, part 2 (with 17th fret used as you please), part 3 (small stone phase shifter used from here), part 4 till end

4:55

well **** me, I'm quite familiar with those pages but I just never clicked 'guitar' or 'bass'. I didn't even have to make that tab.
