Hey Melbourne (Australia) folks!

My band Ursa Major which I play bass in (no offsets, except sometimes Jazz Bass and Jagmaster) is playing a gig at the Espy (in St Kilda) on the 18th of May. It's in the Front Bar. Headliner is Dé Jah Groove, other bands are King Farook and Symbiosis, a pretty eclectic mix of styles for one night. I think we're on first and play at 9, but I'll confirm or deny that later.

We play sorta prog/fusion/rock stuff. We sound somewhat like The Mars Volta, even though none of us listen to them anymore, but with more keyboard solos. Our drummer and keyboardist are super jazz nuts.
Times change.  Remember when dog Jimmy used to go white and chalky?  Now it grows hair!  We got used to it. We'll get used to poly. -blueavenger

Cool! Hope to see you there. I'll be the guy with the black jazzmaster in -presumably- the first band on.

hey Yannis, I'll try and make it to your gig. Maybe you could come along to the first Idiot Bear gig in four years!

Saturday 9 June at
The Slaughtered Lamb
34-35 Great Sutton Street
EC1V 0DX

(that's Clerkenwell / Smithfields area)

Kicking off about 8ish, I guess. It's doubling as our bass player's 30th birthday party, and will feature my good self on the wheels of steel afterwards. Well, I say wheels of steel - I'll be plugging my MacBook into the PA!

You can't miss me - I'm the singer / Jag player who's not so much running to fat as fucking SPRINTING.

This is slightly OT but I'd be interested in doing some projects with people on here.

In the future when I'm settled in (september roughly) I'm hoping to find some people to play with. Maybe an improv instrumental Sunn 0))), Mogwai style outfit with an art/film/photography display. Something to play at galleries etc where people appreciate that stuff.
