New Squier JM, first tune on it

Post by Tyrannocaster » Tue Nov 14, 2023 6:25 am

I got a new 60s CV Jazzmaster last week and I have to say, Squier knocked it out of the park (mostly). Jazzmasters and I go back to the early 1970s, so I have some basis for saying that; this is the nicest JM I have ever played, I don't care who made it. And I think it sounds absolutely gorgeous on this tune, even if I do say so myself, lol. The reason I said "mostly" up above is that while it plays and sounds great, they did a truly funky job of matching the wood; although the guitar looks okay from the front (it's a sunburst), somehow the wood on the back is horribly mismatched, with one piece being way darker than all the others, to the extent that I named the guitar "Squnk". :D I got the guitar from a shop on Reverb and the photos did not show the extent of the mismatch, so I'm wondering if there was some Photoshopping going on there. However, given the way it plays and sounds, there's just no way I'd send it back and if you listen to the tune I think you'll see why.

Nerd detail: the whole thing was done on the rhythm circuit!
