Unwound Reuniting for a Tour in 2023

Post by Redstar30 » Fri Jul 15, 2022 2:04 pm

Saw that Unwound announced they are reuniting and going on tour next year. Jared Warren of Karp, Melvins, and Big Business is stepping in for Vern (RIP). Looks like they added a synth player for the tour as well.

I plan on checking them out at one of their L.A. shows.

Planning to be at a Seattle show.
I've skipped out on most (or all?) of the 90s reunion tours, even for bands I love(d), but Unwound is different somehow. Maybe because it's doesn't feel like nostalgia or recreated a certain feeling/era/whatever... I'm just excited to see Unwound again.
Jared is perfect to fill in for Vern. (I may even still have the KARP tape that Vern put out somewhere).

We got tickets for one of the Seattle shows.

I was a little skeptical since most reunions are either awful or meh. Even the ones people praise I generally don't care about. I saw Justin Trosper and Sara Lund on both their tours as Nocturnal Habits and Justin and Brandt before that, when they did Survival Knife.

I am still a little skeptical but even if it's not a true reunion, I still got tickets for the 15th in LA.

i was actually tempted to buy a plane ticket to america for this because they're my favorite band. the downside is i can't really justify spending £1000 or so on it.
offset guitars resident bass player.

Anyone ever see Giant Henry? When I moved to Olympia in January of 1991 they were a super fun local band that totally thrilled me. In fact I remember being dumbfounded, confused and delighted by the sheer noise. I saw them a few times and then they disappeared and came back as Unwound. I think I saw a show or two but it didn't do a lot for me. I'm not the biggest Unwound fan, sorry. But Giant Henry! I remember running into them in the supermarket while on acid.

They are consistently amazing. I got to see this live a number of years ago and it was :w00t: :w00t: :w00t:

I guess I was considering going to it, but for some reason, shows don't seem to make it to St. Louis very much anymore. They'll often leapfrog from Chicago to Kansas City or something.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.
