I miss Shadowplay
Sure, he loved to act snobbish, and his music recommendations were as predictable as algorithmically-generated recommendations from a late 90s software technology (if you like Marissa Nadler you will also like all of these identical female artists) but the guy almost single-handedly kept this section of the forum alive and interesting. He also had a great eye for artistic details that go beyond the music (and his music knowledge was absolutely encyclopedic).

It’s funny you bring it up because I’ve thought a lot about him lately. His posts were usually passionate and sometimes a bit salty, but I always thought he had great sense of humor and insight into a lot of different subjects and miss having him around.

Re: I miss Shadowplay
From my memory he kind of quarantined himself to only posting in the threads specific to music or albums at some point as things were becoming more political around here, then dropped off entirely.

Indeed. I've spared him more than a few thoughts over the last year-ish.

Hopefully this thread will coax him back into the wild. It would be great to have him contributing again.

Re: I miss Shadowplay
I got the feeling he kinda lost interest in the forum, seeing it as a bit too stagnant.
He also had to focus all his energy on his own boogiewonderland.co.uk website, not to mention his 2021 Donna Spring/Summer couture collection

David is a good dude, I hope he is well.
He turned me on to more than a few great bands and for that I certainly appreciate him. He was also a voice of reason for me a few times.

I used to be cool, now I just complain about prices.

David has helped me through the darkest times of my life with his wit, generosity, and big heart. He also has impeccable taste in everything.
