I'm looking forward to new band Cola. The single is a winner.

Nell Smith who has recorded an album of Nick Cave cover songs with the Flaming Lips. She will be a star, soon - anything else would be a shame!

I've been really into Squid lately, happy to see this KEXP session come up! They were supposed to play a festival over here last summer, but ya know...

So many! This is what I came up with off the top of my head, I’m sure I’m forgetting quite a few.
HalfNoise
Big Thief
Meggie Lennon
Sam Evian
The Marías
Men I Trust
Leyya
Andy Gabbard

Oh hell yeah, my buddy played drums with them for a bit! Wiggins rips and is the best local sound dude. I just made my record this past summer at the same studio they did their last record.
Yeah, Big Thief and Sam Evian are both names I was gonna drop. I'm also really loving this new Black Country, New Road record that just dropped. Killer stuff. Might as well throw Black Midi in here too.

Yeah that BCNR is cool.
I'm thinking Wet Leg is a guilty pleasure, but a pleasure nonetheless.

Too many to mention, mostly through WFMU, some through friends. I use WFMU and Bandcamp. Not all shows on WFMU are great, but once you found your favorites, you can discover so much you’d otherwise never hear. Plus stuff you probably would have heard using Spotify. Fuck Spotify though.
My unsolicited advice: stop being lazy, cancel your Spotify subscription, find a (web) radio station you like and when you hear something you like, use Bandcamp to dig into the discography of and actually support that artist by buying music. Of course, you could also use Spotify to find things you like and then support via Bandcamp.

My buddy Adam Weisberg played drums with them for a hot minute, and Andrew Wiggins the singer/guitarist does sound at the Earl in EAV. Good dudes all around. Really miss that little music scene.countertext wrote: ↑Fri Feb 18, 2022 8:02 pmWho’s yer buddy, and what’s yr record?
I haven't put the record out yet but it'll be out sometime this year, sorting out all the logistic/legal/creative stuff pre release right now. It's my first record and I'm trying to do this release right, but also trying to not be too precious about it and just get it done. Need to book some shows too.
But yeah, the project/band is called Withe, the album is going to be called "There is Less Sun". Here's a sneak peak at one of the singles that'll come out hopefully in the next couple months: https://www.ampled.com/artist/withe/post/2665

I think I know Adam’s face, but I never met him. I know Wiggins, though, and he’s a good guy. He also makes killer fuzz pedals, of which I have two. Moreland Magnetics is his brand (you probably already know this, but I’m not afraid to remind everybody else here).
