Wolf Alice. Might be one of the best bands from UK currently.

Their guitarist even plays Jaguars.
5 years? They released an EP on a Sony subsidiary in 2013 & they had some singles out before then, too.
Oh, you're right. I didn't realise they've been out for so long. In this case I would change my pick to:

Grandma's Ashes - French (all-female) trio playing very tasty stoner/prog rock

Italia 90 - a post punk band from UK I've discovered recently on a showcase festival. It's definitely worth checking out. It's hard to describe their music, but it's very captivating to watch live.

There's been an original music revival in the town I'm from recently, the Irish music scene always looks towards Dublin but they're finally starting to take music from outside it seriously.

Just Mustard, a Shoegazey / Industrial band, supported the Cure at their Malahide gig and recently signed to the same label as Fontaines DC and Idles, I recommend their excellent debut album Wednesday: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vw8UPwG ... rakiriDiat

Some singles for flavour:
Deaf: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-Kiw1x ... ustMustard
Frank: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2121UMm ... ustMustard
Seven: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8mvUHw ... ustMustard
Tainted: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPWnjIL ... ustMustard
Pigs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mw-0n4Z ... ustMustard

AE Mak, a woman with an insane vocal range, very Bjork-esque sense of style and the music videos are always fantastic.

Too Sad to Sing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5dnp9_L ... 86MAKMusic
Dancing Bug: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtaxrGH ... nel=LeBoom
Love Flush: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VHQ7fqO ... 86MAKMusic
hey driver (!): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0g2D5C ... 86MAKMusic

TPM, a satirical rap group who write barbed hilarious jabs at Irish living, our town is famous for a specific blend of Curry so ''Eat That Curry'' gets quoted a lot in our house. ''Fuck RTE'' was voted single of the year by the very institution they were criticising.

All the Boys on the Dole: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVlJAV8 ... el=TPMLAWS
Eat That Curry: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kqlst1R ... el=TPMLAWS
TPM Don't Have Your Money: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wESDtNm ... el=TPMLAWS
Fuck RTE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPGbNBg ... el=TPMLAWS
A big thank you for that post - I thoroughly enjoyed every single artist / band in there. TPM made me laugh really hard. :)

I don't think anyone mentioned Tropical Fuck Storm? They just about fill the requirement (they formed five years ago) and one could argue that they are more of a continuation of Gareth Liddiard's work with the Drones, but their three albums are pretty damn cool and their are probably the best live band I have seen in years. An excellent soundtrack to the end of times.

The other singer / guitarist in TFS is Erica Dunn, who has been active in many bands on the Aussi scene, including Harmony and her own project, Mod Con. She might be one of my favorite vocalists ever.

Orville Peck is another cool one. Tongue-in-cheek britpop country, an impressive vocal range and an ever present fringe mask, what's not to love about him?

Telethon - Power-Pop/Pop-Punk in the vein of Jeff Rosenstock. This band was pretty much made for me. Hooky songwriting, a singer who sings/writes too many words and some bright synthy goodness.

Ducks Ltd. has been in very heavy rotation for me lately.

If you like jangly shit like Close Lobsters you will probably dig them.

May have been around longer than 5 years but someone I recently discovered is Chelsea Wolfe. I think I stumbled onto her stuff on YouTube and loved it. Her “Tiny Desk” performance was amazing.

Also recently discovered Let’s Eat Grandma, a British female duo who’s album is utterly insane and I love it for that.

There’s a local band called Somesurprises that I caught last week. Really great stuff.

RIYL Slowdive, Stereolab, Wye Oak, Beach House, Blonde Redhead, Spiritualized, etc…An overall droney/spacey vibe, but with some interesting melodic and chord choices.
Love them. Kraut + VU but really dreamy. (Maybe some of my highest compliments: I've listened to them on repeat on international flights).
The guitar player for the opening band for that show you saw is quite handsome and clever, too. ;)

I really love the second Moving Panoramas record as well. (One of the Posies joked that they should be called "Rodeolab").

Also on regular rotation at chez la mort:
Billie Eilish
Choir Boy
Darkswoon (Portland)
Fontaines DC
Blue Glass (Seattle)

Maybe outside of parameters here:
Lebanon Hanover
Soft Kill

Fontaines DC are from Ireland, seriously proud of the lads.

Billie Eilish. For real.
Seconded. I'm primarily a metal guy, but I have a weakness for well-crafted pop.

Also, Dua Lipa for me.
