spice up my cd rack to impress of few folks
so the goal is to just have the CD on display, not actually play it during the party...?
As one does, yes.
Print out the covers to the entire Cure discography and insert into empty CD cases. Done.

Although the correct answer for these types of things is always "mid-career self-titled album"

This one’s by far the best album by The Cure, it just oozes mojo! The tone of Robert Smith's good old p90 Gibson sounds just like getting into a bar fight! Your friends will be impressed:

Best for listening to? Disintegration, but Wish is good too.

Best for impressing people at a party? Pornography, Faith and Seventeen Seconds.

Best to play at a party? Standing on a Beach

I have all their albums, up till the early 90's live ones, these are the only ones I ever listen to anymore.

I think this is pretty accurate. I really enjoy Seventeen Seconds, Japanese Whispers, Head On The Door, and Standing On A Beach for personal listening, but Standing On A Beach is what I'd likely play at a party. I don't know from impressing people. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think the last time we played the Cure at a party was one we had with friends for the Join the Dots b-sides box… (as it wasn’t cheap and everyone was broke). Everyone had to bring a Cure-themed snack or drink, with some fun and creative ideas - unfortunately I only remember Jumping Someone Else’s Night Train (cheap fortified wine) and cupcakes with Icing Sugar. (Was there Let’s go to bed bath and beyond? I really should have written it all down). After reading the Tolhurst book, we now know that Kiss Me sessions were fueled by miraval rose (which makes so much sense) but we didn’t at the time (and not like we could have afforded it).

Party was really great for the first two Discs and then was kind of a bummer, just like the comp. We switched to something else around Dredd Song or the Hendrix covers.

My friends always say my classic rock collection is really uncool. I’m having a party next week & looking to spice up my cd rack to impress of few folks. Any recommendations?

Nono.....play and display the Carnage Visors film soundtrack on cassette....just play it over and over.....then pass around the cassette holder...cause that’s cool.

I was going to type this almost exactly, but shoule79 already gave a pretty much perfect answer...

Parody thread fail :(

:D

Ha!! Yeah!!

If this had been made into a record sleeve, and wasn't such an old joke, it'd be perfect here...

Pornography is the obvious answer
I used to be cool, now I just complain about prices.

this still makes me laugh out loud if I see someone- especially someone who doesn't look in the slightest bit cool- wear it.
