I will absolutely watch that.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

I'll watch it, of course, but I'm pretty sure I've seen all the '60s archive footage already. I predict a buch of talking heads, reunion tour footage, and all the usual clips we've all seen before. Maybe exclusive interviews with the pariah Yule, poor old mad Mo Tucker, and perhaps John Cale.

The Victor Bockris South Bank Show will probably still be the one to watch.

Pretty curious to watch this. I've never really liked the VU that much but there's been a good track record of documentaries helping to 'break' artists with me that I didn't previously understand the appeal of. It'd be great if that happened with this.

it's directed by todd hayes, so I’m sure it will be a little more inventive formally than your go-to talking heads+archive doc.

I’m excited for this and wonder if David Fricke will appear. I think there’s a law somewhere he has to appear in rock band docs.

Just watched it and found it thoroughly engaging. Didn't learn a whole lot I hadn't already read about/seen/heard, but two hours immersed in the world of The Velvets is always two hours well spent in my book.

I kind of found it underwhelming, but I guess I feel that about most band/music docs really.

Well, following on from my first post, I will say that there was at least some footage that looked pretty unfamiliar to me. Also, I think they're far and away the most interesting band to ever come out of North America, so I'm not exactly a casual viewer.

If you like Loaded, you like Yule, he's all over that album singing and playing many instruments.

We just don't talk about Squeeze.

Agreed. Although there wasn’t a whole bunch of new info for me I thought it was pretty well done. I kind of wished they did a better job of talking about the early solo careers (post VU) of the various members (they did a little, but I would have liked more), and I also wish it had been a little less Lou Reed-centric. It felt like they were really focused on him and Warhol, or at least that was the impression I was left with. But overall I thought it was good.
The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

I concur, and I hate split-screen.

I liked it. Especially the part about Moe T’s drumming.
