I guess I'm late to the party, but what a great band.

Haven't listened to their first one, but I really liked Antisocialites. It's a perfect pop album.

I have a funny story. I went to one of my local record stores looking for a bunch of stuff, struck out in finding most of them, but did walk out with the new Rainer Maria record. Although it looked new, and I could spy a download card inside, the cellophane wrap was gone, so I was concerned that the download code wouldn’t work. I asked the guy at the store about it, and he assured me that they would allow a return in the record if it didn’t work.

So I get in the car, and pull out the download card, and it’s a different record! It’s a card for Antisocialites by Alvvays. I’d heard them before, recalled liking them, but couldn’t remember too many details. Of course, there was no guarantee that this card was gonna work, and I also didn’t have the card for the record I bought.

I get home and pull out the record fully, and lo and behold a second card falls out. This one is for the Rainer Maria record! With two cards in hand I go to my computer to see if they’ll download, and sure enough, both of them worked. I got two records for the price of one, and they’re both great!

Like their first album, it grew on me.

Thanks for reminding me about their second

Love these guys. My 7 year old kind of got me listening to them, and as soon as he saw the Archie Marry Me video when he was 3 or 4 he was hooked.

Fun fact - Molly Rankin’s (singer and principal song writer) father was a member of the Rankin Family.

Great band though. They have really grown in confidence and quality

Going to pile on with this one too. My wife got me into this band a couple of years ago. I may even like the second album more than the first. They're both so good, though. I like how how two verses of the same song are rarely played identically. This seems like a great songwriting technique because songs that are really very simple guitar pop never stop being interesting with this band. I love the writing (just the right mix of catchy and interesting). I love the hooks. I love Molly's lyrics (just the right mix of funny and poignant) and delivery. I wish this band nothing but success as they're making great guitar pop in a time when that seems to have gone out of fashion.

The second record is growing on me. The songwriting is just as great, but I was really in love with the guitar work on the first album. Great great band. I was listening to it enough that Alvvays and Seapony (found on my Alvvays station on Pandora) are probably my 5-year-old's favorite bands.

Saw them a couple of days ago in Prague. Great band, great songs, good show. A shame that often the sound was mushy and washed , when a more jangly clarity was needed. It was not the band's fault though. I guess there is always an amount of lottery luck about the venue and system that you have to play with in every new city. I like the band, they have their heart in some of the classic pop and power pop I use to love, but with a sonic twist that makes them quite interesting. Good luck to them!

One of my favorites of the last couple years (and both records are in heavy rotation at our house). A colleague of my wife's recommended them to her after hearing the first album on an inflight radio station on a flight to (or back from) Asia.

The new one wasn't as immediate, but really great. Catchy and clever.

They remind me of Veronica Falls (whose drummer just passed away sadly) and also bit of Tiger Trap (live especially).

Love this band. Great pop songwriting mixed with interesting guitar sounds. That's the sweet spot for me.

Very cool to see them getting so much love.

The band I play bass in is learning One Who Love You for some upcoming shows, and having listened to that song a ton now I agree. They're always doing something subtly different over the same chords or switching up the structure slightly. It's been a fun challenge trying to figure out how to pull it off as a 3 piece.
