Probably not the first, but the Rite of Spring passage of Fantasia and thinking 'I am scared. What is making those noises'

So much classical maybe, i legit had a few months of pre-school ballet classes and some classical mixtape played in school assembly everyday and even the doctors waiting room piped out symphonies through a tannoy.

Beside hymns and nursary rhymes plus i dont think my parents particularly played any music in the house?!

My mother enrolled in some of those record of the month things, and basically got me the big classic rock albums of the day. By the time I was in second grade, we were renting a big house that I would love to own today, and there was a second music room for me.

I was loaded up with some stuff that really didn't do much for me like the Steve Miller band, but I had some Alice Cooper that I really liked.

More importantly, I had The Who's Meaty, Beaty, Big and Bouncy, which is a fantastic collection. That led me to Who's Next and Quadrophenia and a Who obsession that lasted until my early 20's.

More like this. If my mother could have followed this guy around like the Grateful Dead she would have.

My dad listening to Jesus Jones of all bands. I remember hiding under a toy bin in my room while the stereo was going. I was trying to avoid cleaning up the house. A very odd first memory of music.

I wonder what my earliest memory is. I couldn't put those very early memories on a timeline, but here is what I remember from my very early years:

Fuckin' CHIC
Vangelis' music from Cosmos
The pompous sounding opening music for Masterpiece Theatre
Plenty o' Willie Nelson, and various country acts on Austin City Limits, back when it played country music
(I'm noticing a PBS theme here)
Funk&Wagnalls family library of great music
More disco, lots of disco when I was little
FUNKY CHIMES (look that one up if you don't know)
and this, which hand to heart was the first record I ever owned and as a matter of fact, I still do today.

My earliest memories are hard to tease out. My mom's parents owned a music store, both played multiple instruments, my grandmother gave piano lessons at home, including to me starting when I was 5 or so, my parents were in a band the first few years of my life and my mom gave piano lessons at home. My mom playing Debussy with her piano under a print of Renoir's Woman at the Piano is my fondest early memory, although not my first.

I remember my dad coming home one night in '78 or '79 with a tight perm and then they started going dancing on the weekends.

Im going to say "I was made for loving you" by Kiss. That's a pretty rough introduction into the world of music. :wtf:

Followed by a Beatles cassette compilation called 20 greatest hits.

I have early memories of that one, too.

My mom playing an album by Neil Diamond called "Jonathan Livingston Seagull". Reminds me of getting in trouble at the coffee shop climbing around under the table.

My parents got me the Beverly Hills Cop soundtrack (for some bizarre reason) for my first owned media (cassette). I must have been like 6 years old. I think that's the first music I remember.

Neutron Dance, Axel F and The Heat is On were my favs.

When I was around 10 years old, I'd go in my older brothers' room and listen to the Grateful Dead Europe 72 (on 8 track!)...I remember listening to "Tennessee Jed" over and over. It's one of my least favorite Dead tunes nowadays...

I also remember 5 or 6 years later, listening to some music (probably GD, but maybe Floyd or something) and my father saying "what is that crap? Here, put this on" and gave me a swing album... "Swing Swing Swing" is some good stuff!

edit: is it really "Sing Sing Sing"?
