I'm excited for Narrow Head at the Troubadour on October 17th. I'm also seeing Deafheaven the day before that at the Ace Hotel, someone gave me two tickets for free.

I saw Ry Cooder accompanying his son Joachim at a free concert in a local park today. I pushed my son on a swing-set adjacent to the stage. We had to take some long trainspotting breaks at a metro rail crossing a block away, because autism. Caught a few fragments of desert blues and related sundries. I didn’t get a close look at the guitars, but Ry played what appeared to be a Teisco or similar electric through a ragged tweed amp. An urban pastoral idyll. I wish it was like that every weekend.

The Sonic Dawn and The Courettes in two small Danish towns next month. Skullclub in December in a large Danish town and Still Corners in Denmark's biggest town next Spring.
Never used to go and see that many Danish bands - but since Brexit/Covid it's been hard for the UK bands I'd normally go to see to get over.

Caught Seattle band Floored Faces here in Tacoma a couple nights ago. Great, loud rock trio for those of us with a thing for/experience in the ‘90s. AVRI JM with Mastery hardware as a bonus. Excellent kick drum artwork. Catch them.

Frazey Ford on Saturday. Rescheduled from forever ago. My first indoor show since March 9th 2020, and first actual night out with my wife in I don’t even know how long.

I wish I was more excited about it.

Frazey and band were amazing, but being around so many people who were shitty about masking up because vain/stupid/drunk really soured me on the idea of going to another indoor live show for a while.

There’s also: The Big Moon, Pip Blom, Lunar Vacation, Future Islands, Darkest Hour, Superheaven, Jawbox, Bad Religion, Dinosaur Jnr & Beach House that I’m considering. Crazy good year so far for live shows.

Just caught Deafheaven in Brooklyn last night, have a ticket for Low in Manhattan at the end of the month and am debating catching Failure later this year. The Deafheaven show was my first since late 2019 and I had a little trepidation about it. It was a sell out, mask and vax mandates are over in NYC and being in a full room of folks almost made me bailout at the last minute, but I was glad I went.
