Re: This one's for all you Pete Doherty fans....
I've got mixed opinions about him. I think he's a genuine talent, great at song-writing (which isn't easy). Unfortunately I think his drug habit has eclipsed all the good thats come out of him.
I have a dear friend who had a serious drugs problem that almost killed him. He had very similar pressures to Pete Doherty, he may not have been a "rock-star" but he had to maintain a certain level of togetherness a lot of the time & had children to feed & cloth. Pete Doherty has enough money & friends to get him out of the hole he's in.
I personally don't think he's the hopeless addict we see in the News. I think he's addicted to the image & lifestyle that rock'n'rolls given him. He's had countless opportunities to sort it out but he's thrown them all away. How many chances does he need?? Therefore a large part of me thinks he's a fucking idiot!! I don't buy into that "oooh, the drugs are so hard to kick" bullshit at all. Its willpower, thats all.
As for Kate Moss. She's always wanted the rock thing over the fashion thing. She's been hanging out with Bobby Gillespie & Mr Depp enough to show thats clear. I'm sure there's a certain charm in Pete Doherty but there's also the allure of being a kind of cleaner Nancy Spungen. One things for sure though, She's more of an icon than he'll ever be.
I was lucky enough to see The Libertines in their early days (playing at Filthy McNasties) & they were pretty good. The gig was a riot. I saw Dirty Pretty Things too. I have, however, absolutely no intention of seeing Babyshambles. From what I've heard (most of it) they're just not very good.

You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

ive seen babyshambles and they were excellent,
Mr doherty seemed fine on the night - not out of it
and he has a huge stage prescence and lots of charm
there are some fine songs on that album

I think Kate Moss would date all the Rolling Stones if she could get away with it.
I think she looks rough these days.

Seriously? She'd still get some. That said she looks straight haggard at times.Amber wrote: I think she looks rough these days.

haha that's a great clip. seems like he's a completely different person now.
i actually liked the libertines when i first heard them, i lost interest after the first album though. i downloaded a babyshambles album a while ago just to see what it was. listened to it a bunch of times, but i guess it was neither good nor bad, cause i honestly can't remember any of it.

I have no freaking clue who that is. Just goes to show that things are VASTLY different depending on your location. I remember all of you talking about how sick of the Horrors you were, but they aren't really that well known here at all. Of course I don't know whos popular in the states right now either so maybe that has something to do with it...I live on an island in my mind.

100% Agreed - I've seen Babyshambles three times... They were excellent every time.fourmations wrote: ive seen babyshambles and they were excellent,

Energy is something I rate highly in music and he crowbars LOADS of energy into their gigs.
Hot, Sweaty and yes, Shambolics, with a pinch of I don't give a f***.
Patrick is an underrated guitarist too, the band lost something when he went. (White Jazzmaster?!)
Fourmations - check out Gang of Gin. Best song he has written.... Awesome.

Holy words!Tweez wrote: I totally hate him and all his musical projects, Brit rock didn't need to be revived and destroyed to a tatter of its former self by him and his band of unhygienic fools.
Plus, he gets Kate Moss, where is the justice in that.

The horrors are embarrassing. Bit of a gimmick.
