I've been enjoying Cindy Lee - Diamond Jubilee.
Bump for an incredible two hours of tender haunted alter-reality AM radio and so much more, now available on wax (3x LP :o ) and C-deez.
This came up on my Bandcamp feed and Jesus Christ I can’t get enough, what a mysterious and beautiful sounding collection this is.

It seems the record doesn’t ship until Feb and apparently is going to cost me $90 CAD? Having a hard time pulling the trigger there, the $38 US shipping cost is a little fucked for me to commit to preorder. Hopefully can find one locally when it’s out

Just in case you missed some of these:

The Cure: Songs of a Lost World
Pixies: The Night the Zombies Came
Mogwai: "God Gets You Back", "Lion Rumpus" (new album coming in January)

* POSSIBLE HERESY WARNING *

The Cure has never meant anything to me and I don't think I've ever heard a full album of theirs, but this new one is simply magnificent.

Also: Do yourself a favor and listen to Mogwai's "Lion Rumpus" linked above.

Sacré c'est chien!

Would someone care to explain to me why there seems to be a shitload of really cool alt-punk-indie rock coming out of France these days?

Yesterday I stumbled into another absolute gem: The Pythies - "Toy" | Bandcamp

I usually find folk music soul-crushingly tedious, but these two are something completely different:

Doom folk! Buzzard - Doom Folk
Folktronica! Rabbitology - "Butcheress"

So you go right ahead and suck it, Bob!

It doesn't exactly make me hold my breath when a cult favorite announces they are going to release new material for the first time in 15 years, but holy shit Hermano's new single "Breathe" just fucking slays; it might even be better than anything Kyuss ever did.

The bad news is, that's pretty much it. The other five tracks on their new When the Moon Was High... EP are a fairly mediocre previously unreleased song and four live cuts.

But still, one excellent track is far better than a million generic ones.

I'm not very fond of singer-songwriter stuff, but Michelle Gurevich's new album It Was the Moment is an exceptional exception.

It's post-apocalyptic chansons of the damned from the ruins of cold-war West Berlin. It's Nico waking up naked and strung up on a freezing January morning in a meat-packing plant. It's a mirage of Leonard Cohen's ghost in drag behind a two-way mirror. It's distant echoes of muffled cries for help from beyond time and place. It's young Patti Smith hallucinating in an alley behind the Zoobahnhof to the tune of oompah and wind chimes while making love to Ziggy Stardust's estranged stepfather.

So yeah... I think I kind of like it.

Remember those olden days of MTV when a great video could make a good song an overnight international phenomenon and record companies could spend millions on a single video?

Well, here's London punks Split Dogs and their video for "Precious Stones" showing how to do it with £50.

I'm sure there's no need to tell you what kind of music a band called Fuzzrider might play, but i'm going to anyway: pretty fucking badass Greek fuzz blues that'll make your chest hair grow into a slab of goddamn Astroturf and your veins flow 100-proof bourbon, that's what.

"Slumdogs" | Bandcamp*

(*The good stuff doesn't start until the third track so you may want to skip the first two.)

I noticed there's no jazz on this page and we can't have that, can we?

Immanuel Wilkins' new album Blues Blood is at the same time both traditional and modern; both harmonius and antagonist; and both steaming hot and fucking cool.

An album I’ve been enjoying: Fazerdaze - soft power (Spotify link)

Her last album seems forever ago, and this is a great follow-up. Indie with plenty of 90s dream pop & shoegazey elements. An easy initial listen & been growing on me.

The singer in my heavier band has put me on to Touché Amoré in a big way. They released their 6th album a month and a half ago. Hal Ashby (YouTube) is one of my favourites from it. Peep the offsets.

I think it was mcsleazy who recently recommended Coilguns here and I was immediately sold. Their new album Odd Love was released today and it fucking kicks balls.

It's entirely possible that I'm a bit too much into superlatives, but if Poppy Jean Crawford and her new single "Glamorous" aren't the raddest shit to come out of L.A. this year, I'm perfectly willing to accept any number of vintage guitars as a punishment.

This site for sure has its own way of inserting various media links (every forum has its own, tbh), but I'm getting used to it

Unschooling - Social Chameleon
Deradoorian - Saturnine Night
Mirror Revelations - El Vehículo de las Transformaciones
