Re: Your favorite driving music?
Depends where I'm driving. But for longer drives, it's hard to go wrong with Krautrock - Neu!, Can, etc. or related stuff like Kraftwerk or Stereolab. Shorter drives within the city, I tend to prefer shorter tracks - Hip-Hop or Alt/Punk.

Mogwai and Swervedriver.
I used to be cool, now I just complain about prices.

I'd like to add that, if I'm on a long journey at night or during snow I listen to Reservoir - Mirage Sower.
An album I defy anyone into interesting rock music not to love.

For long drives I'll go with the oldies (up to 1979) or something mellow like the 1st Mojave 3 album. Or I use the time to give albums i dislike another chance. Prefer something upbeat or metal for shorter drives.

mogwai is always train ride music to me. i can't explain it but there's nothing like sticking rave tapes or young team on for the train ride to edinburgh.

Re: Your favorite driving music?
I used to play a cd I made entitled Get in the Car with 20+ songs that all had “drive” somewhere in the title or lyrics.
Songs like Drivin’ on 9 by the Breeders, or Snakedriver by JAMC made the list, along with Son of Mustang Ford by Swervedriver. A number of alt-country songs were also included, like Passenger Side by Wilco.
Not sure what happened to it? Now I mostly listen to classical music because driving around Seattle stresses me out and cellos keep me calm.
Nothing like driving the speed limit on a suburban street and being passed by some clown doing 60 in the center turn lane, only to swerve across two lanes to make a right turn to set your teeth on edge. That might sound oddly specific, like a singular event, but unfortunately it’s a daily occurrence these days! Just yesterday some asshole was doing donuts in the main intersection during lunch. A big cloud of smoke for everyone sitting in the sun outside of the library.
It feels like Mad Max is less than a decade away.

Yeah. Lots of people are fatalistically indifferent in traffic these days, others are downright suicidal.
That's why I don't like to listen to aggressive music while driving.
