I play guitar in all of these cause I'm useless at every other instrument. Here's what I've got:
Low Rentals - Atlantic Coal Field Grime Rock. Riffs, guitarmonies and solos; we try to hit a nice middle ground between the being a hooky party band and grimy stoner rock outfit. Kinda metal, kinda not. Here's a link to the EP we just put out, also on Spotify or whatever.
The High Tide - East Coast Indie. This band was born from the ashes of the CanRock indie scene of the mid-00s. We probably started too late, but we like what we're doing. Currently recording a new record that may or may never come out.
Painted Seagull - Pop punk/CanRock. This is a long-suffering project that was kind of hard to get off the ground. We sing songs about late stage Millenialism and trying to navigate what it's like being in a band with two people who like hiking, and two people who enjoy a good sit.
Inactive/Dead bands:
Frigged - Horror Punk. Started out as a joke with an unfortunate name (we are men of our generation, and we've had to grow a lot). Fun band where we just got drunk and played loud stupid guitar riffs over songs about horror movies and South Park references.
Cap Gun - Sydney Hardcore. We played everything faster than we had the ability to do properly. It was loud and surprisingly hooky at point. I remember making a point of trying to use weird chord voicings a lot that I can't possibly remember now. Also ripped off an Iron Maiden riff without realizing it until after it was recorded. Thank god nobody listened to this.
Stepwise - Skate/Street Punk. One of my favourites. We had a weird thing where we kind of applied stoner/metal riffage to a 90s SoCal punk ethos. There are solos, screaming, and some super cool riffage, if I do say so myself. Thought we had a bandcamp at one point, but I can't find it. Here's one out last shows:

I made this little video a year and half ago. I've abandoned this project, but damn if this isn't a pretty good song. And a decent video too. And aesthetic success... if nothing else. Anyway. Witness me, please.

Nice song, did you play all the instruments yourself?

Thanks! Yeah, this is a 100% solo effort here. The project was a little too heady for its own good. The idea was to perform with a drum machine, and electric guitar and nothing else. Thus, I wanted the recordings to not include too many elements that would be missing from the live performance.SuperAxe wrote: ↑Thu Mar 28, 2024 9:17 pmI witnessed youseenoevil II wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 5:49 pmhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USXFi7o-O_I

Thus, the recording is 90% those elements, a big guitar part (that I double and triple and quadruple with room mics, acoustics, and different amps), a drum machine, and my voice. The only supplements are the piano sounds, and a B3 organ I added to reinforce the root notes in the bass frequencies.
If it wasn't for disappointment, I wouldn't have any appointments.
