Funny you should mention that—did not use an actual deck but *did* consult the oracle by refreshing this site once or twice.

Don’t remember if this song involved that or not!

That moment where the acoustic guitar/Stylophone comes in is really cool.

Side note: I understand a reluctance to support Spotify, but I will just say that there’s a nuanced conversation we could have about how such a well-intentioned position might have unintended impacts for the artist.

It’s a complex and thorny subject, one that might be worth its own thread.

Agreed.

Sorry to go back to this, but I just want to say: part of my disdain for Spotify comes from some abstract ideal about supporting artists even though I haven't 'researched' the issue enough to have much of an informed opinion on it. The main thing is that I don't like streaming at all. I know that it is what most people do, but I want to physically download all my music and have it on my computer. I really get annoyed when algorithms suggest stuff I don't like.

Bandcamp, from what I can tell, is way more artist friendly and it allows me to download. I don't like Apple music much either. I get to use Amazon music because my wife uses that so when I am in the mood for some random song that's not in my collection I just ask Alexa.

This track rules. I hope the Dean E'Lite is on there somewhere.

That bitcrushed distortion/fuzz sound on the guitar solo starting around 1:16 is radical. I also loved that little bop line at 1:55 into the divebomb. Really fun playing!

Thanks so much to all!

The first single got a decent bit of traction, but this one has been a little bit less quick to ascend.

Hopefully the full-length (coming out 10 Feb) does okay.

Every little bit helps, and I really appreciate it.

This is great, Brad! They synths sound like my Platonic ideals!

The drums sound delightfully crispy on this one Brad. Those old RCA's are quite high fidelity for an old ribbon, no? Did you add some kind of tape saturation onto the signal? There's a very satisfying crunch to the tone that's almost like a tube mic preamp overdriving a little.

I love single mic drums (or just a stereo pair of Omni's a few feet out on the floor). Gives the mix so much room for the other instruments to breathe.

I'm out of the country at the moment so only have cans to listen on. I have a feeling this will sound great on my old speakers at home (my favourite pair of 70s KEFs)
Silly Rabbit, don't you know scooped mids are for kids?

Oh there is *quite* a bit of compression on that one mic. I don’t know what Pete used to be honest.

I think it did also hit tape as well; we were using an ATR102 as an effects device quite a bit
