Dean Wareham just wrote a wonderful piece on Verlaine, he even goes into detail on his involvement in Luna's Penthouse. I found this portrait of an older Tom to be just wonderful. He was magic.

My uncle, tough as nails old pop guitarist from the 80s and 90s, gifted me Marquee Moon on vinyl. My student dorm house had a record player in the living room, so I brought it. So many nights I sat up drinking with my best friend, weirdly also named Tom, spinning that record which we both got massively into.

That's what my musical ambition has been since; releasing something, anything, that two drunks can get excited about at 2:30 am, 40 years later.

Rest in peace, Tom Verlaine. Gone but not forgotten, not for another 40 for sure.
