Wrens - The Meadowlands - a STELLAR record!!
I haven't listened to this album in a really long time.
I'd completely forgotten how effing BRILLIANT this record is, and how much I loved it.
Happened upon the disc by accident and threw it in the car for our Sunday afternoon drive and here I am, professing my adoration for this record.
I swear, this could be one of the greatest records that "most" people have never heard.
And it's a fact - you read it on the INTERNET!

One of the most perfect "Pop" albums I've ever heard. Reminds me of skipping college classes and long drives. Those were the days...
Hopeless is such a fucking great song. Time to listen to this album again.

Bringing this one back from the dead becauseThe Wrens' NEW album is ALMOST here...
Well, sort of.
If you know The Wrens at all, you'll know that they've been working on their follow-up to The Meadowlands since 2003. For a while, it cropped up on "most anticipated albums of the year" type lists on Pitchfork and all that. As time went on, interest waned, but every so often, Charles would pop up to say it was ALMOST there, and tease some detail of the mixing process or whatnot...
Well, now it seems like Kevin's had enough of waiting, and is releasing his songs as Aeon Station (with the other Wrens except Charles).
Sad that it's turned out this way, but the two tracks released so far (Queens and Leaves) have the Wrens DNA in there.

Meadowlands is indeed a classic, I've also been waiting for the follow up and every time they've posted about it I'm like "Ok yeah... we'll see", so this is good news, albeit with a sad streak. x]

it's a good one but it's SO EMO, that new project's 1st track is KILLER. It's channeling that same vibe as Arcade Fire did with the proto nostalgic almost amazing edge. I've always identified with that sort of "could be older" than it is Arcade Fire era.
As for the Aeon Station, reminds me of that and Twilight Singers musically.

I used to be cool, now I just complain about prices.

If I was a byrd, I'd be mighty sore every time they shut the door and I don't think I'd sing...

A sad story in a way, I’m another one who’s been waiting for this album since the Meadowlands.
