The return of Way Huge...
Huh. Didn't see THIS coming.
http://www.musictoyz.com/articles/wayhuge.php
I was under the impression that Jeorge Tripps was employed by Line 6. I guess his contract is up...
Here's hoping that these are FAITHFUL recreations of the originals. I doubt they will be, but it'd be nice.

Re: The return of Way Huge...
I believe he already mentioned several times that he would never reissue any of the originals. These new ones are supposed to be just that, new. Those originals are cool, but I don't really think they sound any better than a lot of the "boutique" stuff that you can buy new right now. But ten years ago, there weren't as many people making that stuff, so they stood out more. Just my opinions of course.

Re: The return of Way Huge...
all the old wayhuge effects are just clones of classic designs so ya could always make one ya self.
that said, i love the aluminum enclosures and i'm trying to find them for my own effects.
swollen pickle = bigmuff using quad transistor array in place of four individual transistors.
safron squeeze = ross compressor
some others seem to be craig anderton circuit variations.
i agree its a shame that dunlop wont be re-releasing these effects but all is not lost if ya really want one and cant afford a feebay priced one.
i can direct people to more info on these if needed........

The red llama is, but so is my fuzz, The Great Destroyer. I don't think it's fair to knock the red llama, anderton showed the world that you can make distortion with a 4049 chip. Great! It's not like Dali has a patent on freaky ass paintings, you know?-2N3904- wrote:

I prefer their older stuff.

i'm not knocking 'em, i just like to let people know they can have the same sound else where without paying the ridiculous ebay prices that wayhuge sell for.

Re: The return of Way Huge...
yeah i built one just recently for the total cost of $30 (including a bunch of extra components for personal tweaking) and it sounds great, it's one of my two main dirt pedals now. sure, theoretically the real thing might possibly sound slightly better (i've never tried one so i wouldn't know), but not $450 better.-2N3904- wrote: i'm not knocking 'em, i just like to let people know they can have the same sound else where without paying the ridiculous ebay prices that wayhuge sell for.

Re: The return of Way Huge...
People pay big $$ for their collectability and rarity, and with the expectation that prices will continue to rise. Not for the sound. Kinda like tulip bulb mania in the 1630's:

I think I'll dub my next Way Huge clone project the Windhandel.

That is the best reference I've ever come across on a guitar board. Good job! (and much better than the beanie baby example, I usually use).jetset wrote: People pay big $$ for their collectability and rarity, and with the expectation that prices will continue to rise. Geoff
(beaten to the Windhandel joke, sadly).
There might be some machiavellian purpose in starting rumors that the old ones will be reissued, just to drive down the price on ebay...
