I could just hijack the other MXR blue box thread, but...
So I recently sent my 4 year old MXR blue box to some guy hoping to get a volume boost mod (from a craigslist ad...I'll never do that again). He says he followed the instructions on the noisefx site, but now it is even quieter than before, to the point of being nonfunctional. He says that he used it before he shipped it and with a distortion in front of it, it was louder. I've put a full blast distortion in front of it, and still get hardly any sound.
Think it got damaged in shipping, or did the guy screw it up? I tried to get a refund from him and even filed a paypal dispute, but paypal declared it "settled" because their guarantees don't apply to services.
anybody have a volume modded blue box?

you snip one leg of an electrolytic cap..easy..definitely works but i think it fucks up the sound tonally..i prefer it with the cap there..
