LM308 metal can into a rat 2
So i am thinking of buying the fabled LM308 metal can and putting it in my rat 2. but I really dont know what would connect where. is there anyone that can maybe explain the best way to put the can in place of the chip?

thanks man. that'll help a lot.
I just got the part in today. I'll be having a friend help me put it in, so I'll let you all know how it goes.

I did this very mod (and another) to one of mine. I made a photo write up of it at the time. It is buried somewhere in this effects section.
It did make a little difference in tone, but it wasn't huge. Mine had the newer chip in ti and not the standard 308. I suspect there is really no noticable difference between a metal can and a normal one though.

i heard that the only difference between the metal can and the rectangular chip is that the metal can is a little bit noisier.

I did the LM308 upgrade to my Rat2 too. Not the metal can version though. I was led to believe that there wasn't an appreciable benefit over the regular chip. Meh.
I've done lots of mods to my Rat over the years. I go into some detail here: http://www.kyletompkins.com/wp/?p=276

I'm sooo happy with how this turned out.
it was really easy to put in, and it made my rat sound infinitly better I think.
It's a nicer, fuller, and clearer sound, with the same nasty bite it used to have. sound more like a rat should sound.
