With the great paring down of my equipment it was time I put together a home board. Nothing but some essentials on a home-made scrapwood board.

This is what I went with:

Image

(I found my spare Pitchblack. Happy days. I might strip it down and give it a paintjob though)
Rat, Fuzz Face, and a great analog delay.... there isn't much that you can't accomplish with that! There's a billion Fuzz Face clones out there, and Analog Mike's are some of the best of the best. I love mine! I have 3 now :fp:
Indeed, that Sunface is amazing...I've never had a fuzz sound so damn satisfying to kick in. I'll forever love my Ampeg Scramblers but they're a tough sound to fit into things (unless you love the sound of breaking glass!). Not gonna lie either...it loves being fed that Rat too :?

Apologies, double post. But I’m super happy with this, and just wanted to say a public thanks to everyone who gave me ideas & recommendations for me to put this little mess together.

Gone from Boss MS-3 back to a proper board. Apologies in advance if you’re triggered by messy cabling

Consider this cable-management junkie 100% triggered. And the pedal angles :D :D

You’re welcome!

I haven’t put Velcro on some of the new ones yet, and using the tu-2 to power some pedals with the daisy chain caused some, erm, issues ;D

Looking at getting a slightly wider board, and a bigger power unit. The Strymon Ojai only has 5 outs.

Nothing to fancy but tried and tested pedals that get the job done. Sometimes I put a fuzz out front and sometimes i put a rv3, electric mistress and looper on the back but mostly I just stick these.

That's a nice and simple setup! I could have some fun with that ;D

Same. There's almost everything I could possibly want on that board (and not wholly dissimilar to what I have anyway)

Ceriatone Centura replaced with a Klon KTR and a Walrus Julia.
I was seduced by a deal I couldn't refuse on the KTR and so I thought I'd give it a go. I use it as an always on clean boost right at the end of the chain just to give a bit more to the amp and to give my sound the pleasing EQ curve. It sounds the same as the Centura, no noticeable difference to my ears but it is a lot smaller so gives room for the Walrus Audio Julia.
The Julia is a great sounding chorus, I've got it set to give some slight movement mostly for lead lines. Sounds special with a clean sound which I wasn't expecting, the D-C-V dial let's it be just the right amount of subtle.

Took the time today when the drummer was not at practice which is in our case half the band. I made a few adjustments to the board and toyed around with some pedals from the shelf. Tone Machine got retired, OC-2 took its place and later I added the Fender Blender. I'm not sure if it stays because it's all already a lot of pedals but it fucking rips with the Bass VI. So we will see, maybe it'll take the place of the Pitch Fork and the OC-2 in the nearer future or will just go back on the shelf.

I decided to try a bit different angles when I took the pictures. Nice, innit? ;D

Yeah, and while I was at it I took a picture of my whole rig for some more context:

Image

I've got the pedalboard running through the Roost amp with the 2x12" on the right. Cleanish bass signal and Jamman looper goes  through the Ashdown OriginAl with the 6x10" in the middle (the Peavey is chillin' out in the friend zone at the moment). The Unimog with the 2x15" on the left amplifies the synth and serves also as the P.A. for our vocals.

I thought I might as well post a link to our bandcamp as I always think it's nice to hear what people actually do with all their gear. For instance I came across the super cool band of our fellow user MayTheFuzzBeWithYou some time ago and it simply made me perceive his posts with a much clearer understanding of what it's really all about. So, here's my band: https://moseisleyspaceport.bandcamp.com/

The single 'Laika/Raised by a Lioness' is the most up to date representation of the band. The rest is from ye olde days when we were a classic three-piece band with a guitarist.

How do you like your Jamman? It seems like a very full featured looper/ phrase sampler, but I almost never see them in the wild.

I wonder why not more people use it. It's awesome. I had a few different loopers in the past and this by far the best. I don't think I'll ever need another one. This is the third one I own. At one point I had two of them in different places of the pedalboard but that was too much, so I sold one. Then I found out there a models with 9V AC and 9V DC power supplies. Mine had AC, so I sold it and got another one with DC for convinience.
The best part of it are the switches. The travel is very short, so it's easier compared to other loopers to get the timing right. I do live looping, so that's really important. Also to just go up to the next loop instead of clearing everything before you can start the next loop is very cool.

It’s evolving with new DD3. Tidied it up after cable shaming myself.

Challenges:
- no room for the external tap I’ve bought, time to get a proper board
- I might have bought another delay that will be arriving soon…
- the Ojai only has 5 outs, so probably need a bigger power pack

Board looks like a heckuva lot of fun… might have to check out that Frederic trem pedal.

Regarding the Ojai, if I recall each of those outputs is something like 500ma so you can daisy-chain a few low-amp-draw pedals off a single output. That should save you from having to pop for a new power supply, at least until the board grows significantly.

Good point- thanks for the heads up! I’ve got 3 pedals running via the TU2 at the minute, but can daisy chain out of another power channel for another 1-2 pedals if I needed.

The tremolo is ace. Someone on here recommended it instead of the TR2. It’s warner & even choppier than the boss. I love it.
