Spending a little time with my old '76 Custom today with one of my typically wild setups.
Is that wine red or a rich brown?

Either way, I absolutely love Customs from the 70s and this one looks fantastic
It's wine red and is pretty dark, but the light in my apt is crap as well. Thanks, it's 10.5 lbs, has a slight twist in the neck, and needs a fret level, but isn't in bad shape. I've rewired and it and have an unoriginal set of period Gibson pickups in it but the originals are going back in whenever I get around to it. I've had it since '85 so we have a big anniversary coming up in a few years.

I like them as well and wish I would have picked up a cherry sunburst model when prices were better.

It probably doesn’t help that I was looking from my phone. Wow. Yes, a very long time. A wine red custom from the 70s is one of my dream guitars. Cool that’s it’s been with you that long

Thos little DSL amps are monsters and way underrated! I had a DSL201 for way too short a time.

I’m kinda ambivalent about it- I wish it were a bit more like my old jcm2000. At the same time I got it for £120 or so- I really can’t complain & it kicks the ass out of any other practice amp for that kinda price.

I guess I haven't played any since they were all JCM2000's. The DSL201 and 401 were the smallest and were pure tube dirt machines.

Perhaps one of the least “cool” rigs possible. 66 coronado ii straight into a Roland Cube 20.

Been playing a lot of jazz stuff recently, this just about nails the sound at a low volume. These cube amps are great! A bit middy but that’s manageable with some knob twisting. The reverb also isn’t half bad. I bet this would be absolutely gig worthy with a decent boost infront of it to add some squishiness.

Still loving the Coronado, though again, it’s definitely temperamental and not necessarily everyone’s cup of tea sound wise. The maple body makes it very resonant, and you can hear a ton of air on the notes, especially at the bridge. Like I’ve said before, it captures a lot of what people like about old gretsches, with more of a JM neck feel.

Love the set up! Is that a natural or gold Coronado?

Great Lane coffee table btw. I have the matching end tables in my living room. Love the dovetails. 😎

Thanks! The Coronado is an ancient “hippy refinish” in natural that’s pretty sloppily done, looks pretty good from a far, but up close its messy and runny. I’ve contemplated a refin in shoreline gold, but it’s probably more expensive than I can justify.

And yes, the coffee table is sweet!

This is my setup of the day, every day. The amp is cheap and ugly, but has a decent actual spring reverb unit. The JM is a Squier VMJM body with a classic lacquer 60's MIM neck, which basically gets it to what my '08 CIJ was. It has Novak JM-HCs in it. Sounds good for jazz and surf. Trying to meld the two together.

Finally got my P Bass back from getting a nut and set up properly! My first bass with flats too, been waiting to finish this project for awhile and broke it in taking a spin with the Bassman!

Put some new strings on my Mustang, and decided to go Double Dan with the big amp

Also on a whim I bought one of those Boss long handle string winders. Good stuff, kicking myself for not getting one years ago.

I went to Wilco's festival, Solid Sound, a couple of weekends ago, and I was lucky enough to see Nels do a solo set from up close. I owned a Manecolooper Sweet 16 (16 Second Delay Clone) for about a year and then I sold it back in November. After seeing Nels I immediately had to buy another one.

Well, it came in today and I decided to go full Nels. Put the Sweet 16 on a little table, and I have to say, it's way more useful that way. Far less bending down, more interactive. It was a good decision.

So, today's rig:

Marrguar -> JHS Pulp 'n Peel v3 -> ZVex Double Rock -> Big Cheese Clone -> JHS Muffaletta -> EB MVP Volume (out to TU-3S) -> Walrus Juila -> Way Huge Supa-Puss -> Hall of Fame II -> Maneco Sweet 16 (with Moog expression pedal to change delay time) -> '63 Ampeg Jet.

Looking through my Flickr searching for something, I found a pic of my old gigging rig. I would swap around the BJFe with a few others but the HBOD was pretty constant. The amp also traded up duties with a tweed Deluxe I built from a Marsh kit.

I love this set up of the little amp and pedal set up. I feel like you can get a lot done with this.
