Re: Setup of the day
Trying out this setup with only one OD-3 instead of two, and turning up the gain on the amp for a base sound. It's a little less dynamic, but I think this will work better live. Less stuff for me to fuck up, and less volume changes for the sound guy to deal with.

Re: Setup of the day
Super geeked on the new amp I just got back. A qualified tech went through it twice, small electrolytics changed, it has recent filter/bias caps, and the tubes are tested and biased. A weirdly intermittent defective preamp tube has made me a little gun-shy, though. They found it when I took it back, and I trust them, but I can't let this thing rip at home to really test it.
Booked a show on 3/30, great bill, don't want the amp trouble I had the last show. Cab is a recently-hardwired Texas Heat that can handle 120W.
I've been trying to play it as much as possible with my regular live board to calibrate things, but I swapped in my "screw around with ambience in the apartment" setup.
The naked cleans on this amp are AMAZING. Big, rich, and full.
But today's pedal recipe? Oh my good lord it's dream-pop BLISS.
Try something similar and see. Just the slightest, chorus-y detune on the PS-2. The Rat and Blacksmith make nice, saturated voices to do swells with.

That board is so beautifully lean and simple, but probably gets both lethal and totally cosmic.mynameisjonas wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 10:35 pm

No idea, but it’s been on a while, I picked it up in 2007. It’s had a neck reset and the string angle over the bridge is super shallow with the B3, love how that trem feels. Have been able to get pretty close with the Casino with the B6 which is cool too.

It's the sort of thing we should hate for it's extreme kitschiness but I can't help but love it for that exact reason. I hear the 50s Gretsch's are very hit or miss, glad you found a good one.

“Who you callin’ kitsch?”
[edit] I’ve just realised you might need to be well-acquainted with the artwork of a certain album, beyond just the front cover, to even understand this terrible joke. Sorry.

I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

I'm not happy about them culturally appropriating my heritage.
